Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) signals, and the determination of a precoding matrix for configuring the MIMO signals. An uplink traffic channel may be configured utilizing orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) waveform. Determination of the precoding matrix may be based at least in part on an estimate of the uplink carrier, where the uplink carrier estimate is based at least in part on a downlink reference signal, exploiting channel reciprocity in a time division duplex (TDD) carrier. Determination of the precoding matrix may further be based at least in part on a cross-correlation matrix Rnn or a whitening matrix determined by a scheduling entity. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device such as a user equipment (UE) may identify a codebook matrix having a number of rows equal to a first number and a number of columns equal to a second number, the first number equal to a number of UEs supported for communication with a base station, and the second number equal to a sequence length of a set of UE specific signature sequences, where the rows of the codebook matrix comprise a Welch bound equality (WBE) achieving vector set. The UE may identify a UE specific signature sequence based at least in part on a mapping between an identifier associated with the UE to one or more rows of the codebook matrix, and communicate with the base station based at least in part on the UE specific signature sequence.

Abstract: Aspects described herein relate to communicating feedback in wireless communications. A user equipment (UE) can receive, in a downlink portion of a slot, data communications from a base station, where the data communications comprise multiple code blocks received in one or more downlink symbols. The UE can generate one or more feedback bits to provide feedback for the multiple code blocks. The UE can transmit, to the base station and in an uplink portion of the slot, an indication of the one or more feedback bits.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for generating and reporting a reference power headroom report (PHR) for New Radio (NR). A user equipment (UE) decides to report a reference power headroom (PH) for at least one carrier frequency in a transmission time interval (TTI). The UE determines at least one of an index (j) of a target received power of a Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) to be transmitted in the TTI and a path loss scaling factor, an index (qd) of a reference signal used for measuring path loss for the carrier frequency, or an index (l) of a power control process used for the carrier frequency. The UE then calculates the reference PH based on one or more of the determined at least one index, and reports, in the TTI, a PHR including the reference PH for the carrier frequency.

Dedicated frequency resources of a physical random access channel (PRACH) may be designated for large and small frequency hops to facilitate the determination of timing offsets for PRACH transmissions. For instance, a frequency hopping pattern within the PRACH channel having a plurality of single tone transmission may include a first number of hops associated with a first frequency hopping distance (e.g., large frequency hops), and a second number of hops associated with a second frequency hopping distance (e.g., small frequency hops).

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive an indication of an offset value from a first modulation and coding scheme relating to a first code rate for a payload data transmission. The UE may determine, for a transmission of uplink control information, a second modulation and coding scheme, relating to a second code rate, that is different from the first modulation and coding scheme based at least in part on the offset value. The UE may transmit the uplink control information using the second modulation and coding scheme based at least in part on determining the second modulation and coding scheme. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that support multiplexing uplink transmissions with transmit diversity with a single carrier waveform. Two or more UEs may be configured to use space time block codes (STBC) for transmissions using multiple uplink antennas. A first UE may be configured to use a first STBC for a first uplink transmission. An orthogonal cover code (OCC), such as a Walsh code, may be applied to the first STBC to generate a second STBC, and a second UE may use the second STBC for a second uplink transmission. The first UE and the second UE may concurrently transmit the first uplink transmission and the second uplink transmission. The first STBC and the second STBC may be applied across multiple OFDM symbols, or may be applied within an OFDM symbol on a modulated symbol level.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may broadcast a synchronization signal using a narrowband portion of a bandwidth of a cell. The synchronization signal may include a sequence repeated over several symbol periods using a cover code to support power-efficient cell acquisition. A user equipment (UE) receiving the synchronization signal may determine frequency and timing information for a cell by performing a weighted combination and accumulation of low complexity autocorrelation and cross-correlation procedures on the synchronization signal. The reduced complexity correlation procedures may be enabled based on the use of the cover code and a base sequence. In some cases, the cross-correlation may be performed at multiple sampling rates. The use of the cover code within the synchronization signal may also support correlation procedures that use recursive or repeated updates, which may allow for further reduced computational complexity relative to other cell search procedures.

Abstract: An apparatus may receive signaling from a base station that indicates different tone indices. The apparatus may further transmit a plurality of symbols in a single tone uplink transmission. In an aspect, groups of symbols in the plurality of symbols are transmitted using the different tone indices of the single tone uplink transmission indicated by the received signaling. A second apparatus may signal to at least one user equipment (UE) information associated with different tone indices for use in transmitting a plurality of symbols in a single tone uplink transmission. The second apparatus may further receive the plurality of symbols in the single tone uplink transmission. In an aspect, pairs of symbols in the plurality of symbols are received in different tone indices of the single tone uplink transmission.
