Abstract:
Systems and methods adapted to provide transmission of communication acknowledgments to facilitate effective delivery and processing of acknowledgments are disclosed. Embodiments may utilize one or more special definition of header and/or control bits (e.g., length indicator, extension field, etc.), special grants (e.g., a grant to carry control PDUs and/or data PDUs with one or more ACKs), and/or one or more special logical channel/radio bearer (e.g., a logical channel having higher priority than regular data bearer traffic) for delivery of acknowledgments, to expedite processing of the acknowledgments, etc. A device receiving such acknowledgments may identify a packet as including one or more acknowledgment upon decoding/deciphering the received packet, such as by detecting a header field containing special data or by receiving the acknowledgment via a special bearer channel, whereby the acknowledgments may be extracted and delivered to upper layers without waiting for all the in-sequence packets to be received or processed.
Abstract:
Aspects of user equipment capability reporting include receiving a paging signal for a second subscription during a tune away from an active voice call on a first subscription, sending a report of less than a full set of user equipment capability information to the network for the second subscription during a connection setup in response to the paging signal for the second subscription, extracting a caller identification (ID) associated with the paging signal for the second subscription during the tune away from the voice call on the first subscription, and initiating a transmission to the network for sending the full set of UE capability information for the second subscription in response to the voice call on the first subscription ending.
Abstract:
The present disclosure presents a method and apparatus for dynamically configuring a cell update message at a user equipment (UE). For example, the method may include determining that a size of the cell update message at the UE is above a threshold value after a “measured results on random access channel (RACH)” information element (IE) is excluded from the cell update message. Furthermore, such an example method may include removing one or more IEs from the cell update message until the size of the cell update message is at or below the threshold value. As such, dynamic configuration of a cell update message at a UE is achieved.
Abstract:
Wireless User Equipment (UEs) are adapted to facilitate uplink transmissions on two or more carriers. According to one example, a wireless user equipment can determine whether a size of data to be transmitted is greater than or less than a predetermined threshold. When the size of the data is less than the predetermined threshold, the wireless user equipment can transmit the data on a primary carrier. When the size of the data is greater than, or equal to the predetermined threshold, the wireless user equipment can transmit an initial portion of the data on the secondary carrier, and any remaining portion of the data can be transmitted on the primary carrier. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.
Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a user equipment (UE) that can maintain active connections on multiple wireless communication networks. The UE shares a transmission resource when transmitting (TX) on a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second RAT in a time-division manual. During TX sharing, the UE provide uplink recovery and protection to one of the RATs.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides for performing security mode procedures. A user equipment (UE) may receive a security mode command from a network such as a UTRAN. The UE may process the security mode command at the radio resource control layer to update security information such as ciphering information. The UE may generate a security mode complete message informing the network when to begin using the updated security information. The UE may generate at least one radio link control layer PDU from the security mode complete message. The UE may set a polling bit of a last PDU. The polling bit may cause the network to acknowledge the security mode complete message with status information. During the update, the UE may suspend one or more radio bearers used by the UE. The UE may resume the suspended radio bearers using the new security information in response to receiving the status information.
Abstract:
The present disclosure presents a method and an apparatus for improving performance at a user equipment (UE). For example, the method may include calculating an average buffer occupancy value at the UE, sending a request for resources from the UE to a base station in communication with the UE, wherein request for the resources is based on the average buffer value, receiving resources from the base station based on the request sent from the UE, and transmitting data on a uplink (UL), from the UE to the base station, based on one or more of data available for transmission at the UE, or an available transmit power at the UE, or the resources received from the base station. As such, improved performance at a UE is achieved.
Abstract:
Aspects of the disclosure provide apparatus and methods of inter-system measurements operable at a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication network. The UE establishes a connection with a network node in a first wireless communication network utilizing a first radio access technology (RAT), wherein the UE is capable of measuring a plurality of frequency bands of a second RAT greater in number than a measurement capability report limit of the first RAT. The UE further selects a subset of the plurality of frequency bands of the second RAT to be included in a measurement capability information element (IE) based on information provided by the network node and information stored at the UE. The UE further transmits the measurement capability IE to the network node.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods of improving call performance by enabling/continuing uplink transmissions during poor downlink radio conditions. The apparatus and methods further include monitoring, by a user equipment (UE), downlink (DL) signal conditions associated with a serving Node B. Moreover, the apparatus and methods include triggering an out-of-sync state upon a determination that the DL signal conditions have degraded beyond a DL signal quality threshold. Additionally, the apparatus and methods include delaying turning off of a power amplifier (PA) associated with transmission of uplink (UL) messages for a call performance improvement threshold time duration.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus of enhanced status retransmission in wireless communication include receiving at least a first portion of a reconfiguration message from a network entity. The methods and apparatus further include detecting an absent second portion of the reconfiguration message. Moreover, the methods and apparatus include sending a retransmission request to the network entity based at least in part on the detecting of the absent second portion of the reconfiguration message and irrespective of a state of a status prohibit timer. Additionally, The methods and apparatus include triggering a status prohibit timer disregard state for at least a portion of a status prohibit time period of the status prohibit timer, wherein the status prohibit timer disregard state permits the sending of the retransmission request during the status prohibit timer period.
