Abstract: A wireless communication device includes first and second links. The first and second links respectively include first and second sets of antennae having an arrangement that renders a null space of a channel matrix between the first and second links non-zero. When the first and second links operate on a first frequency band, the first link obtains first channel state information that indicates a first channel measurement of a first set of channels observed from the second link to the first link. Based on the first channel state information, the first link determines a spatial mapping matrix that facilitates null steering of a signal transmission from the first link in a direction of the second link. The first link transmits to a remote device, a wireless signal on the first frequency band based on the spatial mapping matrix.

Abstract: Some embodiments described herein provide a method for transmitting a preamble in accordance with a wireless local area network communication protocol. In some embodiments, a data frame may be obtained for transmission including a preamble compliant with the wireless local area network communication protocol. It may be determined that the preamble includes a first preamble portion that spans multiple symbol durations and a second preamble portion that spans a single symbol duration. The first preamble portion via beamforming may be transmitted based on a first beamforming matrix. When a transmission mode of the second preamble portion is beamforming, a second beamforming matrix may be generated based on the first beamforming matrix, each tone for the second preamble portion may be calculated based on the second beamforming matrix. Each calculated tone may be transmitted in accordance with the wireless local area network communication protocol.

Abstract: Embodiments of a method and an apparatus for beamforming are disclosed. In an embodiment, a method for beamforming involves transmitting, by a beamformer to a beamformee, a sounding packet that includes training symbols, receiving, at the beamformee, the sounding packet that includes the training symbols, deriving, at the beamformee, channel estimates from the training symbols included in the sounding packet, computing, at the beamformee, a feedback matrix from the derived channel estimates, transmitting, by the beamformee to the beamformer, a packet that includes two sets of symbols, where the feedback matrix is applied to at least one of the two sets of symbols, receiving, at the beamformer, the packet that includes the two sets of symbols, and operating the beamformer according to the two sets of symbols included in the packet.

Abstract: Communications may be effected in a communications environment involving a plurality channels having disparate bandwidth and channel center frequency indexes. Communications are effected using first communications type with a first channel bandwidth and first channel center frequency index. Communications are also effected via a second communications type using a separate set of fields indicating a second channel bandwidth and a second channel center frequency index, the second channel bandwidth being different than the first channel bandwidth and the second channel center frequency index being different than the first channel center frequency index. The channel center frequency index and bandwidth communicated in each communication may utilize separate subfields.

Abstract: A method for communication includes respectively associating each of a plurality of client stations (STAs) with at least one basic service set (BSS) of at least one access point (AP) in a WLAN. The APs in the WLAN are synchronized prior to transmitting data to the STAs. First and second groups of the antennas are defined for downlink communication with the first and second STAs, each of the groups including antennas belonging to at least two of the APs. Different, first and second distributed beamforming parameters are computed over the first and second groups of the antennas. Respective data for transmission to the first and second STAs are distributed to the APs to which the antennas in the respective first and second groups belong and are transmitted in synchronization in accordance with the first and second distributed beamforming parameters.

Abstract: A WLAN Access Point (AP) includes a MAC processor and a PHY processor. The MAC processor is configured to generate a trigger frame including user information fields destined to respective STAs, and a padding field including one or more padding bits, to determine a number of padding bits that, after the trigger frame including the padding bats being encoded for transmission, satisfy a processing-time constraint imposed by the STAs, and to insert the determined number of padding bits in the padding field. The PHY processor is configured to generate a packet from the trigger frame, including encoding the trigger frame in accordance with an ECC, into one or more code words whose length depends on a number of padding bits in the padding field, to generate multiple modulated symbols from the one or more code words of the packet, and to transmit the modulated symbols to the STAs.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes apparatuses and methods for interference cancellation in multi-antenna receivers. In some aspects, a packet transmitted through a wireless environment is received via multiple antennas of a receiver, the packet being affected by interference of the wireless environment. The receiver multiplies signals of the packet with an interference cancellation matrix to provide reduced-interference signals of the packet from which a first portion of the interference is removed. Based on a first set of the reduced-interference signals of the packet, the receiver provides a reduced-interference channel estimate. A second portion of the interference is then removed from a second set of the reduced-interference signals using the reduced interference channel estimate. By so doing, the receiver may reduce effects of interference of the wireless environment (e.g., interfering packets or signals) to improve receive performance (e.g., bit-error rate) for packets that are intended for reception by the receiver.
