    Abstract: A method of providing a viscous emulsion at a subterranean location accessible via a wellbore, begins by providing an aqueous/aqueous emulsion comprising two aqueous solutions which, at surface temperature and pressure, are able to co-exist as separate aqueous phases in contact with each other. The two phases contain respective solutes which are sufficiently incompatible that they cause phase separation. The dispersed phase is rich in one solute, which may be a thickening polymer, while continuous phase is rich in a second solute, which may comprise surfactant. A hydrophobic liquid is dispersed in this emulsion to become the dispersed phase of a viscous emulsion whose continuous phase is provided by the aqueous/aqueous emulsion. The hydrophobic liquid and the aqueous/aqueous emulsion may be pumped separately down the wellbore to the subterranean location, and allowed to mix there so as to form the viscous emulsion at the subterranean location. On mixing, surfactant from the aqueous/aqueous emulsion may migrate to the oil/water interface, allowing the aqueous phases to become one phase with the result that the emulsion is further thickened by any thickening polymer in its composition. Even more thickening can be achieved by crosslinking the thickening polymer.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for finding a relative direction to, a radial speed of, and a distance to a target is described. A laser source illuminates the target and the Doppler shifted return beam is incident upon a window system at an angle and is transmitted therethrough. The magnitude of the transmitted Doppler shifted beam decreases due to Fresnel transmittance. Opposing photomixers then detect this transmitted Doppler shifted beam, thereby creating a pair of detection signals that are mixed with a local oscillator signal. The mixing process creates Doppler frequency signals that are subsequently processed to determine the radial speed of the target. Due to the Doppler frequency component of the signals, objects in the same direction, but moving at different radial speeds, can be discriminated, as the relative direction processing occurs after the Doppler processing.

    Abstract: A hole saw includes a base member configured to secure the hole saw to a drive device and a plurality of blade members extending orthogonally to the base member. The blade members are configured to cut into a structure to form a polygonal opening in the structure in response to rotational movement of the hole saw by the drive device.
