Abstract: Methods, computer readable media, and wireless apparatuses are disclosed for setting network allocation vectors (NAV) for multi-user (MU) operation. An apparatus of a wireless device is disclosed. The apparatus comprising processing circuitry configured to: decode a preamble portion of a frame, and if the preamble portion of the frame comprises a high-efficiency (HE) signal (SIG) A field (HE-SIG-A) comprising a transmission opportunity (TXOP) duration field and a media access control (MAC) portion of the frame is not decoded, set one or more NAVs based on the TXOP duration field. The processing circuitry may be further configured to: decode a MAC portion of the frame, and if the MAC portion of the frame comprises a MAC duration field, set the one or more NAVs based on the MAC duration field.

Abstract: Embodiments of a system and method for communicating acknowledgments in a wireless network are generally described herein. In some embodiments, a method of wirelessly communicating acknowledgements includes receiving a first signal on a first subchannel from a second wireless device. The method may include transmitting a block acknowledgement of the first signal on a subchannel. The first wireless communication device may not receive a block acknowledgement request to transmit the block acknowledgement. In some embodiments, a method of communicating block acknowledgements includes transmitting a first transmission to a first wireless device on a first subchannel and a second transmission to a second wireless device on a second subchannel. The method may include receiving a first block acknowledgement from the first wireless device and a second block acknowledgement from second wireless device. The first and second block acknowledgement may be received on one of the first and second subchannels.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer readable media for MU-RTS and CTS are disclosed. An apparatus of a high-efficiency wireless local-area network (HEW) master station is disclosed. The HEW master station including processing circuitry configured to generate a packet to indicate a multi-user request-to-send (MU-RTS) and to indicate channels on which one or more HEW stations are to transmit a clear-to-send (CTS). The HEW master station further including a transceiver configured to transmit the packet to the one or more HEW stations, and receive clear-to-send responses to the packet on the one or more channels. An apparatus of a HEW station is also disclosed. The HEW station including circuitry configured to receive a packet that indicates a MU-RTS that indicates channels on which the HEW station is to transmit a CTS, and to determine whether to send the CTS.

Abstract: An apparatus of a first high-efficiency (HE) access point (AP) or station for spatial reuse is the disclosed. The apparatus includes processing circuitry configured to: decode a first portion of a first packet; and if the first portion indicates the first packet was transmitted by a second HE AP or station and that the first packet is an overlapping basic service set (OBSS) packet, then if a preamble detect energy is below a threshold, cause to be transmitted a second packet simultaneously with a portion of the first packet after the first portion. The processing circuitry may be configured to determine the first portion was transmitted by the second HE AP or station if a field in a physical (PHY) header or a second field in a media access control (MAC) header indicate the first packet was transmitted by the second HE AP or station.

Abstract: Apparatus, computer readable media, and methods are disclosed for sending feedback in a high efficiency service field. An apparatus is disclosed comprising processing circuitry configured to: decode a trigger frame from a second wireless device, wherein the trigger frame indicates a resource allocation for an uplink (UL) multi-user (MU) transmission for the first wireless device. The processing circuitry may be further configured to: determine feedback for a second wireless device based on the resource allocation. The processing circuitry may be further configured to: encode a physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) to include a high-efficiency (HE) service field comprising the feedback in a physical (PHY) portion of the PPDU. And, the processing circuitry may be further configured to: configure the first wireless device to transmit the PPDU in accordance with the resource allocation to the second wireless device.

Abstract: Apparatuses, methods, and computer readable media are disclosed. A HE station may include circuitry. The circuitry may be configured to: generate a HE packet with a short preamble format or a long preamble format, wherein the HE packet comprises one or more legacy signal (L-SIG) fields followed by one or more HE signal fields (HE-SIG) and an HE long-training field (HE-LTF); and configure the HE packet to indicate whether the HE packet is configured with the short preamble format or the long preamble format. The HE packet may be configured with the short preamble format or the long preamble format based on one from the following group: a symbol after the L-SIG fields, a L-SIG polarity of a repeated L-SIG, a number of times the L-SIG fields is repeated, or a length field of one of the one or more L-SIG fields.

Abstract: Embodiments of a station (STA), access point (AP) and method for rate adaption are generally described herein. The STA may receive a medium access control protocol data unit (MPDU) encoded in accordance with a first modulation and coding scheme (MCS). The STA may detect bit errors of the MPDU based on a comparison between the received MPDU and the decoded MPDU. The STA may determine an MCS reception margin parameter based at least partly on a comparison between a number of detected bit errors and a predetermined threshold of bit errors. The STA may transmit a block acknowledgement (BA) frame that includes the MCS reception margin parameter. The MCS reception margin parameter may enable a rate adaptation, from the first MCS to a second MCS for a subsequent MPDU for the STA.

Abstract: Apparatuses, computer readable media, and methods for indicating a resource allocation are disclosed. An apparatus of a high-efficiency wireless local area network (HEW) master station is disclosed. The HEW master station includes circuitry configured to generate a resource allocation for HEW stations, where the resource allocation includes a group identification and an index into a table. The circuitry is further configured to transmit the resource allocation to the HEW stations. The table may be a permutation table that indicates a sub-channel of a bandwidth for each of the HEW stations. The HEW master station may be configured to operate in accordance with orthogonal frequency division multi-access (OFDMA). The resource allocation may be part of a trigger frame that includes a duration for an uplink or downlink transmission opportunity, and the circuitry may be further configured to transmit data to the HEW stations in accordance with the resource allocation.
