The embodiments are used for a random access process.

Abstract: This application provides a method for transmitting data and a terminal device. Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a hybrid automatic repeat request method and a terminal device. The method includes: obtaining a first uplink grant (UL grant) sent by a base station, where the first uplink grant is carried in a media access control MAC message; transmitting uplink data based on the first uplink grant, and starting a first timer; starting a second timer after the first timer expires; and listening to a physical downlink control channel PDCCH based on the second timer. According to the hybrid automatic repeat request method and the terminal device in the embodiments of the present invention, electricity can be saved, and a retransmission delay can be reduced.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a communication method used for random access, including: receiving, by a terminal, random access preamble information sent by a base station; and before sending random access to the base station based on the random access preamble information, receiving, by the terminal, a random access response sent by the base station, where the random access response includes an uplink asynchronous hybrid automatic repeat request HARQ process identifier, and the uplink asynchronous HARQ process identifier is used by the terminal to send uplink data to the base station. Compared with the prior art, the communication method provided in the embodiments of the present invention can ensure to some extent that uplink data is transmitted timely and can effectively improve uplink data transmission reliability.

Abstract: A transmission resource obtaining method and user equipment are provided. Abstract: This application provides an uplink transmission method and a communication apparatus. When a terminal device does not obtain a TA value in a two-step random access process, the terminal device can transmit, based on a preset TA value or a maintained TA value, uplink data on an uplink transmission resource assigned in the second step of random access, or perform, based on a preset TA value or a maintained TA value, a feedback for downlink data transmitted on a downlink transmission resource assigned in the second step of random access. In this way, uplink synchronization can be implemented when no TA value is assigned in a random access process.
