Abstract:
Method, apparatus, and computer readable medium for providing an identifier for a caller identifier (ID) function when processing a communication request between a calling party and a called party in a communication network is described. In some examples, an initial identifier for the caller ID function associated with the calling party is received. A determination is made if the calling party has a virtual identifier configured in the communication network. A determination is made if the called party has a predefined identifier associated with the calling party configured in the communication network. The initial identifier is replaced with a terminating identifier based on configuration of the virtual identifier and the predefined identifier in the communication network.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for busy override in an internet protocol-based telephone system are described. In some examples, a first communication attempt of a third party is received by a first party, the first party being in an established communication session with a second party over a communication network. A timer is initiated in response to the first communication attempt. A busy operation is performed with respect to the third party in response to the first communication attempt. At least one additional communication attempt by the third party is received during the established communication session. A busy override operation is performed with respect to the first party in response to the first communication attempt and the at least one additional communication attempt satisfying a threshold pattern of communication attempts, the threshold pattern being based on elapsed time of the timer.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for call handling control comprises receiving, from a first device, call handling information directed towards a second device, wherein a call is currently established between the first device and the second device and transmitting the call handling information to the second device, wherein the call handling information comprises feature activation instructions for the second device.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for forwarding data packets to facilitate an IP telephony communication make use of a media relay to accomplish the forwarding actions. The media relay is configured receive setup signaling indicating a first acceptable originating IP address for received data packets. The media relay also allows the acceptable originating IP address to change once after the initial call setup has occurred. Also, if a REINVITE action occurs during a call, the media relay will allow the acceptable originating IP address to change once after the REINVITE signaling has been completed.
Abstract:
When an incoming communication is directed to a telephony device that is capable of conducting an IP-based communication via an IP telephony system and a cellular-based communication via a mobile telephony service provider, the communication is initially setup as a cellular-based communication via the mobile telephony service provider. At the same time, an IP-based communication channel is setup between the telephony device and an IP telephony system. Once the IP-based communication channel is available, the communication is transitioned from the cellular-based communication channel to the IP-based communication channel.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for generating random numbers based on packetized media data comprising querying one or more packetized media devices for a predetermined number of bits from one or more current real-time transport protocol (RTP) session, receiving the predetermined number of bits from the one or more packetized media devices, assembling the predetermined number of bits into a set of bytes; and converting the second set of bytes into a numerical value.
Abstract:
A method and system for determining and updating configuration settings on a device are provided herein. In some embodiments, a method for updating configuration settings on a device may include detecting an error condition produced by executing an app on the device, collecting information associated with the error condition, the app and the device responsive to the detected error condition, sending a request for new configuration settings, wherein the request includes the collected information, receiving one or more new configuration settings in response to the request, and updating one or more configuration settings of at least one of the device or the app using the new configuration settings received.
Abstract:
A method and system for routing communications includes building a first user profile for a first user based on a history of communications associated with a first communication identifier to route inbound communications. The first communication identifier is associated with the first user and subsequently, the first communication identifier may be assigned to a second user. A second communication identifier is assigned to the first user such that a received inbound communication is directed towards the first communication identifier. The method routes the inbound communication based on an analysis of the first user profile of the first user.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for detecting completion of hold time for a user on a call are provided herein. In some embodiments, a method for detecting completion of hold time for a user on a call may include monitoring an audio signal of a call that has been placed on hold between a first device associated with the user and a first entity, determining a change in the monitored audio signal that indicates that the call is no longer on hold and generating a first alert to inform the user that the call is no longer on hold.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for terminating telephony communications to a mobile telephony device that is roaming outside of its native service area make use of a forwarding termination service. The forwarding termination service causes the native mobile telephony service provider that provides service to the mobile telephony device to forward incoming telephony communications directed the native telephone number of the mobile telephony device to a forwarding access number. The forwarding termination service receives telephony communications directed to the forwarding access number, and then terminates the telephony communication to the mobile telephony device via any one of multiple different methods. The mobile telephony service provider can be instructed to implement and cancel call forwarding instructions by dialing a special character string on the mobile telephony device.
