Abstract:
A sterilization indicator including an electronically conductive material positioned on a substrate; a biological indicator positioned on part or all of the electronically conductive material, and electronic circuitry for determining whether the membrane potential of the biological indicator changes during incubation following exposure sterilization conditions.
Abstract:
A decontamination enclosure, comprised of a plurality of preformed panels joined together to form a structure defining a totally enclosed chamber. A door is formed in at least one of the panels, the door being movable between an opened position and a closed position to allow access to the chamber. A circulation system is attached to the structure for circulating vaporized hydrogen peroxide through the chamber. A controller is provided for controlling the amount of vaporized hydrogen peroxide introduced into the chamber.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an apparatus that inhibits microbial viability on a medical instrument. The apparatus has a sterilization chamber for receiving the medical instrument. A circulation system is fluidly connected to the sterilization chamber to circulate a fluid through the sterilization chamber. A well is provided to receive a chemistry container that includes a removable base portion. A device is provided to detach the removable base portion from the chemistry container. The device includes a mounting end that is mountable within the well such that the device extends into a lower portion of the well. An elongated intermediate section extends from the mounting end at a first angle. A free end extends from the elongated intermediate section at a second angle. The free end is dimensioned to matingly engage and apply a force to a mating feature on the chemistry container or on the removable base portion as the chemistry container is inserted into the well.
Abstract:
A method of decontaminating a room or space, comprising the steps of providing a cold-mist decontamination device capable of generating an atomized mist comprised of a decontaminant and water, inputting into an internal processor the parameters of the room or space and the concentration of the decontaminant in the decontamination solution, measuring the temperature and humidity in the room or space, and determining the maximum amount of the decontamination solution that can be introduced into the room or space in atomized form without condensing the decontaminant on surfaces within the room or space.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a device for activating a self-contained biological indicator. The biological indicator includes a casing, an ampule having a growth-promoting medium disposed therein and microorganisms. The ampule and microorganisms are disposed within the casing. The device is comprised of a first lever arm having a cavity formed therein. The cavity is dimensioned to receive a biological indicator. A second lever arm has a protrusion extending from a surface thereof and is moveable relative to the first lever arm to deform a casing of the biological indicator thereby fracturing an ampule in the casing and exposing microorganisms in the casing to a growth-promoting medium in the ampule of the biological indicator.
Abstract:
An extreme temperature decontamination composition such as a solution for destroying microorganisms, chemical warfare and bioterrorism agents is utilized that generally does not freeze at low temperatures down to about minus 25° F. and also has no significant evaporation or decomposition at temperatures up to about 120° F. The solution is effective against nerve agents and vesicants such as VX and HD, and various biological agents. The composition comprises a metallic salt of dichloroisocyanuric acid or dibromoisocyanuric acid, an aqueous solvent system comprising polar compounds such as water and an alkyl glycol, and a quasi hydrophilic compound. The composition can be formulated as a one part system wherein all components are blended together.
Abstract:
An impact and crush resistant shipping container for a vial and cap assembly, e.g., a FABI, the container having sides and a bottom defining a cavity and an opening, and a closeable cover; a partitioning divider defining at least one vertical receptacle for receiving a portion of the vial and cap assembly; an insert having at least one opening therethrough for receiving the vial and cap assembly, each opening sized such that the vial and cap assembly can be suspended in the opening, and the partitioning divider is positionable with respect to the insert such that the vial and cap assembly can be suspended at least partially within the receptacle, and the partitioning divider and the insert with the at least one vial and cap assembly suspended therein are positionable within the cavity such that the cover can be closed without contacting the at least one vial and cap assembly.
Abstract:
A femur support assembly attachable to a surgical table. The support assembly is comprised of a support plate, and an elongated rod reciprocally movable in a generally vertical direction relative to the support plate. An elongated support is mounted to the rod. The elongated support is rotatable about the rod and has a plurality of like apertures formed thereon. Each of the apertures defines a mounting position. A femur hook is provided having an end dimensioned to be received in one of the plurality of apertures.
Abstract:
A mobile device for transporting, tracking and processing medical instruments. The device comprises a cart including at least one receptacle for receiving an instrument container having instruments stored therein. The cart also includes plumbing for circulating processing fluids through the instrument container and a communications system for communicating tracking data associated with the instrument container and the cart.
Abstract:
A mobile deactivation apparatus for deactivating contaminants within a defined region that includes a source of a vaporous deactivating agent, a gas handling system, a support member, a drive means, a control system, and a power system is disclosed. The gas handling system dispenses the vaporous deactivating agent to the defined region. The support member is movable in the defined region and supports the source of the vaporous deactivating agent and the gas handling system. The support member can be propelled by the drive means. The control system is programmed to control the operation of the gas handling system and the drive means. A power system is provided to supply power to the mobile deactivation apparatus.
