Abstract: A device may signal a resource allocation scheme in a high efficiency wireless local area network (WLAN) preamble. In one example, a high efficiency (HE) WLAN signaling field is used to signal a resource allocation pattern to multiple devices. The HE WLAN signaling field includes a common user field that is decodable by the multiple devices and includes a resource allocation field. The resource allocation indicates resource unit distributions to the multiple devices and indicates which resource units in a multi-user PPDU correspond to multi-user MIMO transmissions and which resource units correspond to OFDMA single-user transmissions. The HE WLAN signaling field also includes dedicated user fields that are assigned to certain devices. The order of the dedicated user fields corresponds to the allocated resource units. The HE WLAN signaling field is transmitted with a WLAN preamble to the multiple devices.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for communicating over a wireless communication network are disclosed herein. One method includes determining a total bandwidth for a transmission of a message according to a first specification, the total bandwidth including a plurality of tones, wherein a portion of the total bandwidth is occupied by a transmission according to a second specification different from the first specification. The method further includes logically dividing a plurality of useable tones into a plurality of resource units and determining an indication, the indication assigning and channel bonding at least two of the plurality of resource units to a wireless communication device of a plurality of wireless communication devices, wherein the indication does not assign the portion of the total bandwidth that is occupied by the transmission according to the second specification.

Abstract: A wireless device may selectively add padding to an end of a data transmission in order to provide adequate time for a receiving device to process the transmitted data and transmit feedback related to the transmitted data. A wireless device may identify a total amount of data capable of being transmitted in a transmission, and determine a number of data bits to be transmitted in the transmission. An amount of padding may be selected based on a proportion of the total amount of data capable of being transmitted and the number of data bits. In some examples, a preamble for a feedback transmission may be transmitted concurrently with processing of the received transmission.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for data rate adaptation to extend the range of wake-up radio transmissions sent to a wake-up radio of a station (STA). Data rate adaptation procedures may be used to select a data rate for wake-up radio transmission based on one or more identified parameters. An access point may execute one or more different types of rate adaptation procedures to select the appropriate data rate. In some examples, the access point may select a data rate of wake-up radio transmissions based on one or more messages failing to be successfully decoded. In some examples, the access point may select a data rate of wake-up radio transmissions based on a distance between the access point and the station. In some examples, the access point may select a data rate of wake-up radio transmission based on information identified during a training procedure.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. An access point (AP) may configure one or more trigger frames, which may include a number of random access resource units (RUs). A number of stations (STAs) may contend to use such random access RUs. Regulation techniques for which STAs may contend for access to random access RUs may include providing that separate subsets of random access RUs may be identified for STAs that are associated and unassociated with the AP. In some implementations, the regulation techniques enable STAs to attempt transmissions using the random access RUs when uplink-limited or if the STA has a non-empty buffer, or combinations thereof. Techniques for acknowledging receipt of an uplink transmission may include transmitting an acknowledgment using a same association identification for the acknowledgment as used in the uplink transmission, and including a STA identifier in a signaling field associated with the acknowledgment.
