    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques provide for beam training a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) for sidelink communications between UEs. A base station may transmit an indication of a resource pool to a receiving UE and a transmitting UE for beam training a RIS. The transmitting UE may identify a resource pattern for training the RIS using the indicated resource pool where the resource pattern is associated with a pattern of beams at the RIS. The transmitting UE may transmit a sidelink reference signal using the identified resource. The receiving UE may receive the reference signal via the RIS according the pattern of beams and transmit a beam report to the transmitting UE. Beam training may be based on a capability of the RIS to use either a different beamformer or a different RIS configuration on different subchannels of the same resource pool.

A user equipment (UE) may transmit one or more messages indicating a first time period having a duration prior to expected traffic being available for transmission at the UE, and indicating a size associated with the expected traffic (e.g., a quantity of bits). In some examples, the one or more messages may include a UE assistance information (UAI) message or a buffer status report (BSR) message. The UE may receive a response message based on the one or more messages indicating that a network entity is to enter a sleep mode during a second time period based on the first time period and the size associated with the expected traffic. In some examples, the network entity may enter the sleep mode based on the first time period and the size associated with the expected traffic.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) and a base station may participate in a one-shot initial access procedure involving a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) divided into a number of sub-RISs, each sub-RIS associated with a different configuration for reflecting signaling from the base station. In some aspects, the base station may configure each sub-RIS to have a different frequency shift and transmit, to the UE, a parameter indicating a quantity of synchronization rasters associated with each of a set of beams that the base station may use as part of the one-shot initial access procedure. The UE may, for each beam, monitor a quantity of monitoring occasions corresponding to the quantity of synchronization rasters and transmit random access signaling to the base station based on which synchronization raster of which beam provides a greatest signal strength at the UE.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a base station may communicate with a user equipment (UE) via a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) which is capable of adjusting a reflection characteristic to reflect incident signaling in different directions. The base station and the RIS may establish a beamformed connection and, in some scenarios, the base station and the RIS may experience a beam failure. In such scenarios, the base station, the UE, and the RIS may participate in a two-step beam training procedure to reduce an amount of possible beam pair hypotheses that the communicating devices test in order to re-establish communication between the base station and the UE via the RIS. The two-step beam training procedure may include a first procedure in which the RIS selects a suitable beam toward the base station and a second procedure that leverages the selected beam.

    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, devices, apparatus, and methods, including computer programs encoded on storage media, for PUCCH/PUSCH DMRS bundling. A UE may transmit, to a network entity, a first indication of a maximum DMRS bundling duration for maintaining transmit phase coherence for transmitted DMRS. The UE may receive, from the network entity based on the first indication of the maximum DMRS bundling duration, a second indication of at least one of a DMRS bundling activation or a DMRS bundling duration.     Abstract: A method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE), includes receiving, from any one transmit and receive point (TRP) of a group of TRPs, a first radio resource control (RRC) message configuring a linkage between a first physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) candidate associated with a first monitoring occasion in a first search space (SS) set associated with a first TRP of the group of TRPs and a second PDCCH candidate associated with a second monitoring occasion in a second SS set associated with a second TRP of the group of TRPs.     Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, a base station may configure a user equipment (UE) to perform demodulation reference signal (DMRS) enhancement whereby the UE may transmit physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) or physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) repetitions with different DMRS densities (e.g., a first DMRS density configuration having a first or default DMRS pattern within a transmission time interval (TTI) that is higher than a second DMRS density configuration having fewer DMRSs than the normal DMRS pattern or no DMRSs within the TTI). The UE may identify TTIs (e.g., slots) that satisfy one or more phase continuity rules, and may perform DMRS enhancement in the identified TTIs, and may restart a mapping sequence indicated in the DMRS mapping pattern at each bundle interval boundary or when consecutive uplink symbol periods within a bundling interval do not satisfy a phase continuity condition.
