Abstract:
An apparatus and method is provided for threading a continuous web into a device arrangement having a first module and a second module connectable to and detachable from one another. First and second traction units are provided in the first and second modules. A gripper device grips a beginning section of the continuous web and is detachable to the traction units. The continuous web is pulled with the assistance of the gripper device from an input section to an output section of the respective module given movement of the traction units. A connector device connects the two traction units of the two modules to each other.
Abstract:
A post-processing apparatus of a digital image forming apparatus includes first and second bins for storing recorded matter which was output from the digital image forming apparatus and distributed to the respective bins based on image information data such as the name of data contained in the image information relating to the recorded matter. Each of the first and second bins has a display device for displaying the image information data corresponding to recorded matter to be stored in the respective bins, such as the sender of facsimile, the name of data and the name of client who output the data. By displaying on the bins the image information data belonging to the recorded matter, such as the sender of facsimile, the name of data and the name of client who output the data, the operator can easily find the target recorded matter.
Abstract:
A self-compensating tensioner, particularly a self-compensating tensioner for use in a folder of a web offset printing press, includes a plurality of rollers designed to tension tapes. Each roller is mounted on a tensioner arm. The tensioner arms are mounted on a rotatable shaft via one-way clutches with a weight attached to each tensioner arm so that the center of mass of the tensioner arm is offset from the rotatable shaft. The force of gravity may therefore rotate the tensioner arm about the shaft, applying a minimum tension to the tape through the roller. A lever arm is connected to the shaft through an engagement clutch, with an actuator connected to the lever arm. When the actuator and the engagement clutch are activated, the lever arm can apply a torque to the tensioner arms through the shaft, thereby increasing the tension in the tapes to a working level. When the engagement clutch is deactivated, the shaft may rotate freely, allowing each tensioner arm to be independently moved for tape installation and replacement and further allowing each tensioner arm to reach an equilibrium and thereby apply equivalent tensions to the tapes.
Abstract:
A card insertion system (10) and method in which a free standing inserter module (12) for inserting cards into carriers has a carrier inlet (14) at a preselected elevation (14') for selectively, alternatively interfacing with, and receiving carrier forms (15) from, a free standing in-line carrier form printer module (20) with a carrier form outlet (22) at the preselected elevation (22') to feed in-line carrier forms to the printer inlet when the burster module (32) and printer module (20) are positioned in relative cooperate adjacent alignment and in which a free standing burster (32) for separating preprinted continuous carrier form stock into bursted separate carriers with a bursted carrier form outlet (38) at a preselected elevation (38') substantially the same as that of the carrier inlet (14) of the inserter (12) to enable direct insertion of the preprinted forms ejected from the burster outlet (38) into the carrier inlet (14) of the inserter module (12) when the inserter module (12) and printer module (20) are positioned in relative cooperative adjacent alignment.
Abstract:
Method for depositing different products produced by a printing press in a continuous printing operation, the printing press having at least one controllingly variable printing form, includes separating the products from one another in accordance with a control varying the printing form, and feeding the products individually to a further processing location, and a device for performing the method.
Abstract:
A device for converting the function of a cutting/collecting cylinder (4) of a folding apparatus for rotary printing presses is provided. The cutting/collecting cylinder is convertible from a "collect" to a "non-collect" mode of operation and vice versa. Within the cutting/collecting cylinder (4) there is placed at least one group of pins (7), the pins (7) being disposed on a pin-bearing shaft (9) which can be actuated via a cam follower (41) rolling off on a cam body (27). The cam body (27) is adjustably mounted in a side wall (25) of the folding apparatus so as to be situated opposite a face side of the cutting/collecting cylinder (4). The relationship between the circumferential speed of the cutting/collecting cylinder (4) and the cam body (27) is changeable through a second power transmission element (34) which is coaxially movable and engageable with a first power transmission element (29) having at least two engagement areas (29a, 29b) .
Abstract:
A folding apparatus for rotary printing presses uses at least a single stage speed reducing device between a collection cylinder and a folding blade cylinder to reduce the speed of travel of signatures before they are cross-folded. The reduction in the speed of travel of the signatures eliminates damage to the signatures during their cross folding while allowing the printing press to operate at a high rate of speed.
Abstract:
An apparatus for trimming folded multi-sheet printed products along the bloom edge and along each of the opposite side edges of each product. The apparatus comprises a first cellular wheel (2) which is mounted for rotation about a vertical axis and which receives the products in upwardly open cells and trims their bloom edges. A second cellular wheel (4) is mounted for rotation about a horizontal axis and receives the products from the first wheel in radially open cells and trims the products along their opposite side edges. The second cellular wheel (4) is divided, in a plane (40) perpendicular to its rotational axis, into two cellular wheel halves (4', 4"), which are mounted on respective bearing elements (32). The two bearing elements (32) can be adjusted relative to each other along the central axis (5). The edge trimming blades (36, 39) are mounted to the wheel halves, and thus the relative adjustment of the two cellular wheel halves (4', 4"), permits the apparatus to be easily adapted to different-format products to be trimmed.
Abstract:
An inserter module for attaching processed cards to associated card carrier forms having cardholder information printed thereon is provided. The inserter module includes a chassis, printer for printing cardholder information on serially connected card carrier forms, takeup means for maintaining proper takeup of the serially connected carrier forms as they exit the printer, burster for separating the serially connected carrier forms after printing, and inserter for attaching the processed cards to associated printed carrier forms.
Abstract:
