摘要:
An apparatus and method for de-inking waste paper pulp using a foam flotation process to recycle printed waste paper for the manufacture of new paper. Pulped printed paper is fed as a slurry to an inlet of a shallow tank. Internal guide walls in the tank establish a flow path from the inlet to an outlet. The walls are sized and positioned to create a generally uniform cross-sectional flow area. A plurality of modules are disposed along the flow path. Each module includes at least one injector that aerates the flow and an extractor that removes floated ink foam. A portion of the flow from each module is recycled to an upstream module, preferably by a conduit and associated pump. In a preferred form, an injector (or injectors) alone located at the inlet is fed by the next downstream module and an extractor alone is located near the outlet. The invention also includes a main recycling loop from the downstream end of the flow path to the upstream end. This main recycling loop has a large flow rate compared to the recycled flow between the modules.

The flotation apparatus removes ink- and contaminant particles from a fiber stock suspension which is produced during the preparation of waste paper. Admixing of air to the fiber stock suspension is accomplished in stepped diffusors. The fiber stock suspension admixed with air, prior to infeed into a flotation container, is guided through a deflection element effective as an impact mixer and followed by a mixing diffusor having a preferred flow direction. This flotation apparatus is especially suited for eliminating disturbing or spurious substances which are present throughout a relatively wide grain size spectrum. A particularly preferred construction uses one or more closed flotation containers, wherein the air effluxing from the flotation foam can be advantageously re-used for aeration of further infed fiber stock suspension.

The removal of sticky contaminants during the production of recycled paper is accomplished utilizing a hydrocyclone froth flotation process. Paper having sticky contaminants from labels, tapes, hot melts, and other tacky substances, is reduced to a finely comminuted liquid solids suspension of about 1-4% consistency. The suspension is introduced into a first end of a vortex in a hydrocyclone, and the air is sparged radially inwardly into the suspension vortex by passing it through a porous inner wall of the hydrocyclone. Ligher weight sticky contaminants move to the center of the hydrocyclone, facilitated by the radially inward movement of the sparging air, and hydrophobic sticky contaminants attach to the air bubbles and form a foam. The foam and lightweight sticky contaminants are removed from the first end of the vortex, while the pulp which has had sticky contaminants removed therefrom is discharged from the second end of the vortex, opposite the first end. A plurality of vertical axis hydrocyclones may be connected together in series, with a plurality of the series connected in parallel, to provide the most effective treatment. Removal of sticky contaminants can be practiced prior to or simultaneously with deinking.

A stock liquid is made to flow into a cell through a stock inlet at one end of the cell. The stock liquid is admixed with air bubbles from an air bubble generating device disposed at a lower portion of the cell and extending between the opposite end plates of the cell, thereby forming the stock liquid into a spiral flow. Ink particles are entrapped by the air bubbles to deink the stock liquid and the air bubbles remain as froth over the free surface of the stock liquid. The froth is made to flow down to the froth trough. The deinked stock liquid is discharged to the exterior of the cell through the stock outlet at the other end of the cell.

The flotation apparatus has a vessel or container into which vortex or turbulence channels lead. These vortex channels supply the fiber suspension or stock to the vessel and are provided with at least one stepped enlargement. An air conduit supplying flotation air opens into the vortex channel. The vessel is substantially cylindrical about a vertical axis and is provided in its upper region with a central conduit or pipe for extracting the flotation foam. In the lower region of the vessel a conduit for extracting the recovered good stock is disposed tangentially.

Apparatus for clarifying treated waste water in which the waste water is floated and settled in a flotation tank equipped with a rotatable carriage provided with multi-scoop means. The multi-scoop means is rotated as it is passed through the upper strata of the treated waste water for the removal of floated particles or sludge with no appreciable disturbance of the main body of waste water. The multi-scoop carries the floated particles or sludge to a sludge outlet in an efficient manner without clogging by an unique construction self-cleaning in operation.

The invention relates to a method for removing solid matter, in particular impurities, by means of flotation from a fibrous material suspension (S), wherein the fibrous material suspension (S) is mixed with gas (L), and wherein in at least two flotation chambers (1, 2, 2′, 2″, 2′″, 2″″) flotation foam (3, 4) is formed that collects solid matter and removes it from the flotation chamber. The flotation foam (4) of at least one flotation chamber (1, 2, 2′, 2″, 2′″, 2″″) is at least partially conducted into at least one other flotation chamber (1), in particular in the flotation foam (3) formed therein. According to the method, the complexity can be reduced, even with high requirements regarding effect and yield.

A process of separating a desired constituent from a mixture of particulate matter including the steps of: conditioning a liquid mixture of particulate matter with a frothing agent to create a pulp; aerating the pulp to generate a float fraction of froth supported on the surface of a non-float fraction of pulp; separating a portion of froth from the float fraction; draining the separated froth; washing the separated froth with a liquid to dislodge particles comprising one or more of non-selectively attached, entrained, and entrapped particles; and recovering the washed froth, is disclosed herein. Also disclosed herein are a froth cleaning apparatus and, a froth flotation apparatus for separating a desired constituent from a mixture of particulate matter. The froth cleaning apparatus includes a hood including a lower peripheral edge for interface with the top of a froth flotation cell; a discharge orifice disposed in the hood; a froth support in communication with the discharge outlet for receiving and supporting froth; and a wash sprayer disposed upstream of the discharge orifice. The flotation apparatus includes: a wall defining a flotation cell; an aerator for aerating a mixture of particulate matter to produce froth; a feed opening for introducing a mixture of particulate matter and/or froth into the cell; a discharge orifice in a wall of the cell; a froth support in communication with the discharge outlet for receiving and supporting the froth; and a wash sprayer disposed upstream of the discharge orifice.
