摘要: A fluid reaction tank is provided having an inlet vortex tube for receiving fluid having suspended solids therein and to impart a vortex motion on the fluid flowing therethrough into a reactor housing having one or more cartridges containing a flocculant composition. The cartridges can have perforated inner sidewalls to allow contact of fluid with the composition. 摘要: A process for treating water containing contaminants comprising the steps of: (a) contacting water to be treated with an inorganic oxidising salt containing manganese or iron for a time effective for oxidising a portion of said contaminants; (b) contacting water treated in oxidation step (a) with at least a chlorine containing agent for disinfection and to generate, in situ and through reaction with chemical compounds produced in pre-oxidation step (a), a coagulant for coagulating oxidised contaminants present in the water; (c) separating coagulated contaminants from the water; and (d) subjecting water to a catalytic oxidation for oxidising residual oxidisable contaminants, said catalytic oxidation being catalysed, in part, by manganese or iron species, depending on the residual selected oxidising salt left in solution in water after oxidation step (a). Permanganates are particularly advantageous inorganic oxidising salts and chlorine dioxide is a particularly preferred chlorine containing disinfecting agent for use in step (b). Apparatus for conducting the process is also disclosed.

摘要: A composition for solid pellets and a process for removing water from particulate material slurries produced by horizontal drilling, vertical drilling and dredging of bodies of water are disclosed. The composition comprises a precipitating agent, a purification agent and, optionally, a binding agent. The process comprises the steps of 1) water removal accomplished by diffusing a chemical reagent into the particulate material source stream that results in separating out a clean water fraction and 2) reacting the sludge with a demulsifier and a superabsorbent polymer that locks onto the water in the remaining slurry thus turning the slurry into a solid crust. The crust is ground into a particulate form and disposed in a landfill. The combined effect of the treatments is the thickening of the particulate material slurry from about 10% solids to about 25% solids. The removed water may be used for further drilling and drinking.

摘要: Disclosed is a method for treating water including: —an adsorption step which involves bringing the water into contact with a new adsorbant, the water being referred to as “pre-adsorbed water” before being brought into contact with the new adsorbant, and being referred to as “adsorbed water” after being brought into contact with the new adsorbant, and—a recirculation step which involves removing at least a portion of the new adsorbant brought into contact with the water during the adsorption step, the removed portion constituting a used adsorbant. During the recirculation step, the used adsorbant is brought into contact with the pre-adsorbed water. Also, the pre-adsorbed water does not undergo a clarification step that involves eliminating from the water at least a portion of the suspended matter that it contains. Also disclosed is a device for implementing such a method.
