Abstract:
A cartridge detachably attached to a printer apparatus includes a casing, an ink ribbon provided in the casing, a supply spool provided in the casing for supplying the ink ribbon, and a take-up spool provided in the casing for retrieving the ink ribbon. The printer apparatus includes a locking member rotatably supported on the printer apparatus and locking the cartridge to the printer apparatus, a detection device for detecting an installation of the cartridge by detecting a locked state of the locking member, a locking portion for locking the locking member when the cartridge is installed in the printer apparatus, and a guide forcefully and rotatingly displacing the locking member from a locking position when the cartridge is pulled out from the printer apparatus.
Abstract:
An ink ribbon cartridge to be inserted to and removed from a printer device that prints an image to a printing medium by heating the printing medium with an ink ribbon closely attached thereto. The ink ribbon cartridge includes: a cartridge body provided with a pair of housing sections for housing, with a space therebetween, a pair of spools to be able to freely rotate for winding of the ink ribbon; and a pair of guide sections that are provided on both side surfaces in a direction orthogonal to an insertion/removal direction of the cartridge body, and serving as a guide for insertion to and removal from an ink ribbon cartridge holder provided to the printer device through support by a guide support section formed to the ink ribbon cartridge holder with a cross section of a substantially square bracket shape.
Abstract:
A ribbon cartridge for a printer. The ribbon cartridge includes a frame that supports supply and take-up spools and that has one or more locating features to facilitate its insertion and positioning in a frame of a printer. For example, the ribbon cartridge frame may include a pair of detents defined approximately midway between the two spools to facilitate balanced insertion. The detents are slots with rounded ends that are configured to receive similarly shaped reference protrusions of the printer frame. The cartridge frame may also define a pocket for receiving an identification tag associated with the ribbon cartridge that ensures compatibility with the printer and passage of other information to the printer. In other embodiments, the ribbon cartridge may include a cleaning roller.
Abstract:
A ribbon cassette capable of maintaining ribbon position includes a shell, two spools, and two guides. The two spools are each rotatably disposed above the shell for transporting the ribbon. The two guides are each disposed at one side of one of the two spools for maintaining the position of the ribbon. The ribbon cassette of the present invention is capable of avoiding shift of the ribbon on the spools in a transportation process of the thermal transfer printer or the ribbon cassette itself. Hence the problem of wrinkles due to such shift is reduced.
Abstract:
A method of forming an image on a transfer sheet based on electronic data uses an image forming device and an ink ribbon cartridge. An ink ribbon of the ink ribbon cartridge has a plurality of ink films formed thereon with boundary lines being provided between the ink films. In the image forming method, the ink ribbon of the ink ribbon cartridge is conveyed when the power to the image forming device is turned on and the ink ribbon cartridge is installed in the image forming device and before the user inputs the image forming instruction. While the ink ribbon of the ink ribbon cartridge is conveyed, it is determined with a boundary line detecting unit whether at least one of the boundary lines formed on the ink ribbon has reached a predetermined position in the image forming device.
Abstract:
A printing apparatus having a first zone for receiving a supply of image receiving tape and a second zone for receiving a supply of thermal transfer ribbon, means for identifying the nature of the image receiving tape and the thermal transfer ribbon located in the first and second zones, and means for implementing a compatibility check to determine whether said image receiving tape and said thermal transfer ribbon are compatible, and to generate an incompatibility indication if the the compatibility check fails.
Abstract:
Ribbon packaging is used to load the ribbon into the printer and to code the media type into the printer. The inventive ribbon packaging comprises a contoured sleeve that acts as a loading device. The contoured sleeve with printer ribbon is inserted into the printer. The contoured sleeve is withdrawn and the printer ribbon is left in the installed position in the printer. The packaging also has coding that can be read by the printer's electronics and coded in to the printer software, thereby automatically setting up the media type.
Abstract:
An ink ribbon is formed from a belt shaped sheet body, and is wound around a pair of tubes. Spools are detachably mounted at each end of the tube bodies. An ink ribbon cartridge includes side plates formed with supporting openings for supporting corresponding spools. When the ink ribbon cartridge is mounted in a printing device, the spools are freely rotatable within the supporting openings. A protrusion is formed in an upper surface of the takeup-side of the cartridge. The protrusion provides a handle and an opening is formed in the takeup-side upper surface beneath the protrusion.
Abstract:
A platen on which a recording medium advances, of an inkjet recording apparatus, having: a grooved section formed in a direction perpendicular to a feeding direction of the recording medium on the platen, to receive oversprayed ink jetted onto the recording medium from a recording head; and a supporting member which moves up to a supporting position and supports the recording medium when the recording medium crosses over the grooved section, wherein the supporting member prevents the recording medium from falling into the grooved section and maintains a stable distance between the recording medium and the recording head.
Abstract:
Incorporates means for maintaining a constant tension in the printing ribbon consisting of a loading drum placed after the thermal print head that attracts the ribbon to define a loop, thereby maintaining a constant tension throughout the printing stage to ensure the quality of this operation. The printing method consists of attracting or suctioning the printing ribbon against the loading drum, using an electrostatic system that involves creating an electric field between conductors placed on the loading drum, or a pneumatic system that involves attracting the ribbon by Venturi tubes located inside the loading drum.
