The hydrodynamic bearing assembly includes: an oil sealing part formed between a fixed member and a rotating member; and an oil barrier film disposed so as to prevent leakage of oil from the oil sealing part and including a self-assembled monolayer formed on a surface of at least one of the fixed member and the rotating member. The oil barrier film may be easily formed at room temperature and be continuously used for a long period of time without being damaged due to external impacts.

    摘要: A field configurable vehicle armoring system and associated method allow a user to retrofit and reconfigure a combination of armor components in response to a perceived threat change and using original equipment manufacture fasteners and holes. The system includes pillar armor attachable after an original equipment manufacture door and hinge are removed. Fasteners extend through the hinge of the armored door, the pillar armor and an original equipment manufacture pillar using holes other than the original equipment manufacture holes. Rocker panel and underbody armor is further provided, along with a ballistic resistant windscreen and rear wall armor. Where desired, system armor includes a composite plate comprising a strike face that is constructed from softer metallic material than an inner metallic sheet.

A die comprising two hollow shapes clamping the outline of the blank is placed inside an autoclave-forming enclosure in order to subject the blank to superplastic inflation, and the two hollow shapes are united by U-shaped clamps made of a material having a coefficient of thermal expansion that is smaller than that of the material constituting said shapes.

    摘要: A frame member of rectangular cross section with rounded corners is formed by expansion of a tubular blank within a die cavity having an inner portion of corresponding cross section and an outer transition portion which is of smoothly continuously curved cross sectional profile elongated substantially parallel to the larger dimension of the rectangular section. An outer portion of the tubular blank is deformed to correspond with the continuously curved cross sectional profile and is sealed by a resiliently compressible sealing element of corresponding profile through which fluid pressure is applied in order to expand the blank. By matching the profile of the transition portion to the rectangular inner portion, the transition portion can be made shorter and considerable savings of materials and resources can be achieved.

    摘要: A shearing apparatus for breaking railroad type rails into small segments with a standard rail section including a base formed from a bottom flange on each side of the head connecting web. The apparatus includes a sequential rail feed mechanism comprised of an inclined vibratable supply table, a driven conveyor and means to move rails from the supply table to the conveyor. The rails are conveyed to an advancing mechanism located adjacent the breaker head assembly. Predetermined lengths of the conveyed rails are fed into the breaker head assembly where the rail is initially clamped. Following clamping, one bottom flange, on one side of the web, is sheared through and the rail is then contacted by a breaker head positioned beyond the shear plane established by the sheared flange. As the breaker head contacts the rail and bends it outwardly away from the sheared flange until it causes the rail to fail in combined shear and bending, the rail segments are ejected from the apparatus and collected for subsequent handling.
