摘要: Device for processing elongated tubular workpieces by subjecting them to pressure waves produced in a liquid medium by spark discharge includes a discharge circuit having condenser means and a spark gap formed of a pair of spaced electrodes electrically connected to the condenser means, an ignition device disposed in the spark gap between the electrodes thereof, structure means coaxially surrounding the spark gap and forming part of the discharge circuit, the structure means being encirclable by a tubular workpiece so that the workpiece surrounds the spark gap, the structure means being pervious to pressure transmitted through a liquid medium receivable therein and generated by an electrical discharge at the spark gap.

摘要: A hydraulic chamber incorporating a nozzle capable of delivering a very high instantaneous pulsed dynamic jet in apparatus producing a shock wave in a relatively incompressible liquid is obtained when the effective locus of the shock wave is such that the pressure wave generated thereby is transmitted to build up rapidly and uniformly in a direction along the centerline of the nozzle. A suitable configuration for such chamber is a parabolic cissoid in which the locus of the shock wave is effectively at the focal point of the parabolic portion of such chamber thereby converting the resultant spherical waves into additive plane waves in the direction of the centerline of the nozzle opening. The shock wave employed in the apparatus can be produced by mechanical or electrical energy, or a combination thereof.

摘要: Method of and apparatus for the shock-wave forming of metallic and other workpieces in which an electrical discharge in a liquid produces a shock wave, preferably in a power jet directed against the workpiece. The discharge is produced between a pair of permanent electrodes with a gap between them temporarily bridged at least in part by a fusible conductor. The electrical supply preferably includes at least one high-voltage, low-current source for initiating the discharge and at least one high-current, lowvoltage source for sustaining the discharge thereafter. Control of the power jet is effected by fluidic methods using transverse jets of the same or another fluid, preferably under the control of a programmer.

摘要: Electroforming system including a tubular forming apparatus and a switch means for connecting an electrical power source to any one of a plurality of such forming apparatus. The forming apparatus includes two die portions which are wedgedly engaged by die support means to maintain the die portions in a closed position during the electroforming operation. End covers having novel seal means and electrodes are provided to enclose a workpiece within the die assembly. The switch means includes a first pair of conductive plates which is connected by coaxial cables to the power supply. A pair of plates is also provided for each forming apparatus and is connected by coaxial cables to the electrodes of the forming apparatus. The latter plates are movably mounted to abut the first pair of plates. A shorting bar is provided which abuts the first pair of plates when no plates are in an abutting position with the first two pairs.
