Abstract:
A disk recording medium which can implement a recording method having a high degree of reliability for additional information is disclosed. The disk recording medium has a recording and reproduction region into and from which first data can be recorded and reproduced in accordance with a rewritable or write-once-read-many recording method and from which second data recorded in the form of wobbling of a groove can be reproduced. The second data includes address information and additional information. The additional information of the second data is coded in accordance with a first error correction method, and the coded additional information and the address information are recorded in a state coded in accordance with a second error correction method.
Abstract:
In a disc drive device (10) described as a specific embodiment of the present invention, AC0 to AC12 of ADIP cluster address are associated with AU6 to AU18 of an address unit. A high-order digit of a sector address that has a value of 0 in the case of a former-half cluster (sectors FC to 0D) and 1 in the case of a latter-half cluster (sectors 0E to 1F) is associated with AU5. An address bit ABLG for identifying recording areas of a disc having plural recording areas for land/groove recording or the like is set at 0. These bits of Au to AU18 and ABLG are associated with 15 bits s0 to s14 from the lower side of a 16-bit shift register for generating a pseudo-random number. Moreover, 1 is associated with the most significant bit s15. Thus, the error correction capability for high-density recording data can be improved.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of correcting data on a high-density recording medium such as a BD-ROM (Blu-ray ROM Disk) and a BD-RW (Blu-ray ReWritable Disk). In the present method, whether there is any error in a predetermined-sized LDC data block, which is included in a physical cluster, is determined based on if there is an error in sync data and BIS data neighboring the LDC data block, and, if determined to be erroneous, error correcting operation for the LDC block is conducted.
Abstract:
An error correction circuit capable of detecting burst errors included in a data signal with reliability. The error correction circuit comprises a reading unit, a first estimation unit, a second estimation unit, and a correction unit. The reading unit reads the data signal. The first estimation unit estimates error locations based on BIS code included in the data signal, and stores the locations into an error location storing unit. The second estimation unit estimates error locations based on characteristics of bit strings adjoining the BIS code, and stores the locations into the error location storing unit. The correction unit identifies erasure locations based on the error locations stored in the error location storing unit, and performs erasure correction on the erasure locations identified. Since the error locations are estimated based on the BIS code and the characteristics of the bit strings adjoining the BIS code as well, it is possible to detect burst errors without fail.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and device for encoding information words and a method and device for decoding as well as a storage medium for storing and a signal comprising such encoded information words. In order to improve the properties of a burst-indicator subcode it is proposed to encode the bits of a burst-indicator subcode byte into different channel words. Thus, these bits are spread over an entire frame of encoded data improving burst error detecting and correcting properties.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for recording and/or reproducing data on a disc are provided using padding information, and a corresponding information storage medium. The recording method includes recording a recording unit block in which invalid data is padded in part of the block and recording padding information indicating that the invalid data is included. According to the method, a disc drive becomes able to distinguish valid data from invalid data in an error correction block such that reliability of reproduction increases and stability of the system is improved.
Abstract:
A recording and reproducing area and a reproduction-only area are formed by wobbling a groove formed in a spiral fashion to form a track to be tracked on a disk. The recording and reproducing area has address information recorded by wobbling of the groove and information recorded and reproduced by phase change marks on the track formed by the groove where the address information is recorded. The reproduction-only area has prerecorded information recorded by wobbling of the groove.

Abstract:
A recording and/or reproducing method, a recording and/or reproducing apparatus, and a computer readable recording medium storing a program for performing the method. A recording unit block in which invalid data is partially padded is written on an information storage medium along with padding information indicating that the invalid data is included in the recording unit block. The padding information is useful in determining whether the recording unit block includes the padding data. Accordingly, unnecessary retrial processes of a drive system are reduced such that the performance of the drive system is improved and error correction capability is enhanced.
