摘要: A roof vent ingress prevention device includes a generally tubular base having a circumferential side wall, a lower pipe-engaging section and an upper section having at least two side vents formed therein, the side vents extending through the side wall for venting of gas from within the generally tubular base. A base slippage prevention device such as a circumferential bead or outward slant to the wall means is mounted on an outer face of the circumferential side wall intermediate the lower pipe-engaging section and the upper section of the generally tubular base and is operative to prevent the generally tubular base from slipping downwards into a roof vent on which it is mounted. Finally, a vent cap is mounted on the upper section of the generally tubular base, the vent cap including a plurality of vent openings formed therein for venting of gas from within the generally tubular base.

摘要: A register opening cover may be used to cover register openings until the register boot is installed in the register opening. During the installation of the register boot, the invention may be used to hold the register boot in place until the register boot is securely connected to the floor. After the register boot is installed, the cover forms an insulator around the register boot. One embodiment of the invention provides a register opening cover and register boot frame that can be configured to fit register boots of different sizes. Another embodiment of the invention provides a register opening cover that will support some of the weight of a worker who may step on the covered register opening.

摘要: The invention provides a flap valve for controlling the air pressure within a protected space defined by walls, the flap valve including a valve frame attachable to an opening made in the walls, a valve flap, articulated at least indirectly to the frame and being subjectable to both a sealing force which forces the valve flap against the valve frame and to an opening force which lifts a portion of the flap off the valve frame; the flap valve having a first position in which the protected space is sealed off from a contaminated environment, and a second position in which air from the protected space is allowed to escape into the environment via the opening, wherein the sealing force is constituted by at least one spring at least indirectly attached to the valve flap and the valve frame.

摘要: A vent for venting a building enclosure having a perimeter flange having a nailing means being made of a material with a low coefficient of thermal expansion, such as for example sheet aluminum. The vent further includes a grill structure and a cap. The cap is made from dent resistant plastic to facilitate mass production and low return rates. In a preferred form of the invention the grill structure is also plastic and is molded onto the low coefficient of thermal expansion nailing means. A method of molding the grill structure onto the nailing means is also shown.

摘要: An air deflector is designed for use with an air vent supported in a suspended ceiling grid. The grid is of the type having a plurality of grid members intersecting so as to form a generally rectangular opening with a predetermined length and a predetermined width. Each of the grid members forming the opening have an upper surface for supporting the air vent. The air vent has a generally rectangular perimeter edge with a lower surface that rests on the upper surfaces of the grid members defining the generally rectangular opening. The air deflector includes a deflector body with four side members, each having a pair of opposed ends and a mid-portion therebetween. The ends of each side member are joined to an end of another of the side members such that the four members form a generally rectangular assembly. Each of the side members includes a downwardly extending wall segment having a lower edge and an upper edge. The upper edges of the wall segments together define the rectangular perimeter with the length approximately equal to the predetermined length of the rectangular opening and a width approximately equal to the predetermined width of the rectangular opening. At least two of the side members further include a support tab extending outwardly from the upper edge of the downwardly extending wall segment. The support tab is designed to be received between the upper surfaces of the grid member defining the rectangular opening and the lower surface of the perimeter edge of the air vent such that the deflector body is retained adjacent the rectangular opening. The deflector body is formed from a resilient material such that the deflector may be deformed into a non-rectangular shape and the support tabs may be positioned between the upper surface of the grid members defining the rectangular opening and the lower surface of the perimeter edge of the air vent, without disassembling the deflector body or removing the air vent from the rectangular opening.

摘要: An improved hopper vent is provided which includes many novel features. The hopper vent includes a removable sash window that is removable from the interior side of the hopper vent. The removable sash window is spring loaded into the frame of the hopper vent and is injection molded for easy manufacture. The hopper vent also includes a removable screen which is also removable from the interior side of the hopper vent. The hopper vent also includes a pivot system to allow the removable sash window to pivot open instead of rotating open like in previous, hinge-based systems. Also, the hopper vent includes a dam system which prevents water from draining to the interior of the hopper vent. The dam system includes a front riser to prevent water from draining to the interior of the hopper vent and a drain, such as weep holes or a gap between the frame and the screen of the hopper vent, to allow water to drain to the exterior of the hopper vent. The removable sash window of the hopper vent is also fixedly positionable at a plurality of different openings.

摘要: A grille for the indoor section of a room air conditioner has transversely extending latching structure formed on the inside of a pair of opposing walls. The transverse structures on one side thereof engage openings in the air conditioner indoor housing, which thereby receive and cooperate with the structure on one side of the grille. A flexible latch is provided on the indoor housing on the other side thereof to engage the transverse section on the inside wall of the other side of the grille. The flexible latch deforms to snap into engagement with the mating structure to attach the grille. Release of the latch to allow removal of the grille requires a tool to pass through an opening in the housing to deflect the latch to its unlatched position.

摘要: A security vent is mountable to an existing air duct inlet opening and includes a housing assembly having a mounting frame fixedly secured to an inlet end of an air duct and a housing wall fixedly secured to the mounting frame by at least one side wall portion. The housing wall includes a front face being in spaced relation to the mounting frame and includes a perforated front face thereof. The mounting frame includes an opening therethrough which cooperates with the perforated front face of the housing wall permit flow communication of the air duct through the security vent. The housing wall cooperates with the mounting frame to define a filter-receiving region therebetween. A door is hingedly attached to an open side wall and is moveable between an open position and a closed position. A latch assembly is fixedly attached to the door and is moveable between a locked position and an unlocked position. The latch assembly is receivable by a latch-receiving aperture in the mounting frame to lock the door in the closed position. The filter-receiving region communicates through the open side wall to receive a filter therein.
