Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a needle for being connected to a suture, including: a body having a tip portion disposed at one end portion thereof and a rear end portion disposed at the other end portion thereof; and a suture connection part formed in a side surface portion of the body, wherein the suture connection part includes a reception path extended toward a lengthwise axial portion of the body and receiving a portion of the suture therein, and a closure member constituting a portion of the body and deformed by external force after a portion of the suture is received in the reception path, thereby closing a portion of the reception path.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of a future delivery device and of a suture are provided. The suture delivery device, in one embodiment, comprises a sleeve over a suture and a suture wire. In one embodiment, a suture comprises a primary structure and at least one secondary structure configured to facilitate fibrosis and/or tissue healing. In one embodiment, a suture comprises one or more types of nanoparticles.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for repairing a tear in soft tissue are disclosed. A method according to the principles of the present disclosure includes connecting an intermediate member to a bone anchor and placing the intermediate member on the soft tissue. The method further includes inserting a first suture through the intermediate member and the soft tissue to attach the intermediate member to the soft tissue and fixing the bone anchor to bone to secure the soft tissue to the bone.
Abstract:
Surgical instruments for prolapse repair are disclosed. The surgical instruments have straight portions and helical portions. Surgical methods for treating prolapse are also disclosed, including passing a distal end region of the surgical instruments through the obturator foramen, associating an implant with the surgical instruments, and securing the implant in place to stabilize the vagina.
Abstract:
A shaft-pushed fastenable suture configured for suturing a first tissue with a second tissue and/or for ligation of blood vessels and/or hollow structured organs. The fastenable suture characterized by an elongated flexible cord with one or more teeth, protruding from same. The fastenable suture further comprises a male-head at the distal end and an accepting female-head at the proximal end. The male-head is in connection with an anchor. The anchor configured to be temporarily accommodated by a distal end of a pushing-shaft. The female-head comprises a suture accepting-channel and a neighboring pushing-shaft accepting-channel. At least one of the two accepting-channels comprising one or more flexible pawls for both allowing, by means of the teeth, a continuous linear forward motion of the male-head and the cord within the accepting-channel in only one direction, while preventing motion of the male-head and cord in a backward direction and allowing only the pushing-shaft a reversible reciprocal motion.
Abstract:
Tissue augmentation devices, as well as methods of manufacturing and using the same, are disclosed. In certain embodiments, a tissue augmentation device comprises an elongate tissue penetrating member and an amount of remodelable material, wherein at least a portion of the elongate member is cannulated, and at least a portion of the amount of material is received within at least a portion of the cannulated portion of the elongate member. The elongate tissue penetrating member may provide at least one deformation that is configured to constrict portions of the amount of remodelable material received within the elongate member. In alternate embodiments, a flexible covering over an implantable biomaterial provides protection and allows an easier delivery of the biomaterial to a tissue tract.
Abstract:
Provided herewith is a needle for delivering dermal filler thread to a wrinkle in a patient. The needle can also be used to deliver the thread to a patient for the purposes of facial contouring. The needle comprises a coupler for attaching the thread to the needle and a blunt distal end to ease delivery through the skin.
Abstract:
A polyamide suture includes an elongate core formed of multiple twisted and heat set filaments formed of a first polyamide material and a sheath formed of a second polyamide material surrounding the core along its length, the second polyamide material having dispersed therein non-absorbable radiopaque nanoparticles comprising 15-25% by weight of the second polyamide material. The melting point of the first polyamide material is at least 30° C. greater than the melting point of the second polyamide material. The core may also include or be formed of previously extruded bundles of first polyamide filaments overcoated with a second polyamide sheath. The suture is made by coextruding the core and a molten organic material formed of the second polyamide material and dispersed radiopaque nanoparticles. Desirably, the first polyamide material is Polyamide 66 and the second polyamide material is Polyamide 6.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a locking needle to be used with a Furlow insertion tool during penile prosthesis. The invention also provides methods of using the locking needle for the implantation of a penile prosthesis cylinder.
Abstract:
A manufacturing method for a suture thread with suture needle that has little dispersion in pull-out load and is user-friendly. A blind hole (14) is opened along the length of an eyeless suture needle (10) from a base end surface (13) of the eyeless suture needle (10), a suture thread (18) is inserted in the blind hole (14), and then caulked and formed. A caulking force according to size of diameter of the blind hole (14) is added, cross-sectional form of a caulking part is nearly circular, and the axial length of the caulking part is less than the diameter of the eyeless suture needle (10). According to such a structure, the suture thread (18) may be pulled out from the eyeless suture needle due to a pull-out load within a predetermined force range, and dispersion in pull-out force may be reduced.
