    Abstract: A system for monitoring server and application events, metrics or topology of an airport management system in a cloud infrastructure environment. The adapter can be coupled to a vROPS API of the cloud infrastructure environment and arranged to issue requests for data to the network via the vROPS API. The adapter can include a means for issuing multiple initial requests. The adapter can include a means for receiving initial responses to the multiple initial requests. The adapter can include a means for issuing multiple subsequent requests in response to each initial response. The adapter can include a means for receiving subsequent responses to the subsequent requests. The adapter can include a means for processing the subsequent responses related to each resource ID to provide events, metrics or topology information. The adapter can include a means for delivering the events, metrics or topology information to a user display system.

    Abstract: A system and method for tracking baggage on cruise liners are provided. A baggage tag is created which includes a unique baggage identifier and a unique passenger identifier that has been allocated by a reservation system. The identifiers are associated and stored in a baggage message. The baggage tag is affixed to an item of baggage and as the passenger checks in the item the tag is scanned and the bag validated and the status of the item in the baggage message is updated. When the passenger boards the ship, they scan a touch point with a mobile communications device which indicates that the item of baggage can now be delivered to their cabin. Shortly before arrival at port, the bags are loaded into a baggage container for unloading at the port and each bag tag is scan and associated with a scanned container identifier. The container is notified to the passenger through a message sent to their mobile communications device. When the container is unloaded the bag tag and the container are both scanned to ensure that the item of baggage has been loaded into the correct container and an error is flagged if the container associated with the bag tag does not match the scanned container.

    Abstract: Aspects of the invention relate to methods of authenticating a user and user authentication systems. The method comprises classifying an image of the user as authentic or non-authentic by: identifying a separation vector between a user image characteristic vector and a hyperplane generated by a machine learning algorithm; comparing the separation vector with a threshold value; and associating the user image with a classification value if the separation vector exceeds the threshold value. The user may be authenticated based on a classification decision informed by the classification value associated with the user image.

    Abstract: An apparatus and computerized method are provided for monitoring the positions of one or more aircraft. The apparatus comprises a first receiver configured to receive first aircraft position information, over a digital data link, from a first radio frequency source located onboard the aircraft at a first period, via one or more ground stations and a second receiver configured to receive second aircraft position information broadcasted from a second radio frequency source located onboard the aircraft at a second period, via one or more ground stations. The apparatus additionally comprises a third receiver configured to receive electronic geographical mapping data and a processor configured to receive the first and second aircraft position information, to filter the quantity of first and second aircraft position information to smooth the filtered information and then output the smoothed information such that it can be overlaid onto the electronic geographical mapping data.
