摘要: The invention teaches a media container file comprising media data organized into media source blocks. The media source blocks are partitioned into source symbols that can be processed by a forward error correction (FEC) algorithm for generation of FEC redundancy data. Information of this source block partitioning is included in the file in addition to the source blocks. The container file also comprises meta data providing an association between the media source blocks and the partitioning information. The container file can be employed by a media server in a media session for compiling media data packets to be transmitted to requesting clients without the need of extensive data processing before calculating FEC data.

摘要: A method for scheduling the delivery of a plurality of data portions to respective recipients in a data distribution network, wherein the recipients are commonly utilizing a bottleneck element limiting the performance of the data distribution network. A proportion of recipients automatically requesting a respective data portion is determined upon receiving a respective notification message. A preferred time span for delivering the data portions is determined according to a capacity of the bottleneck element, the amount of data that is to be delivered and the proportion of recipients automatically requesting the respective data portion. The delivery of a data portion is delayed according to the preferred time span for delivering.

摘要: A technique for delivering a multimedia data file, such as an MMS, from an originator having an originator server associated therewith to a recipient having a recipient server associated therewith is provided. The technique comprises establishing a communication path from the originator to the recipient via the originator server and recipient server. The recipient server receives the data file or portions thereof uploaded to the originator server from the originator. Thereafter, the recipient server individually forwards the data file portions received from the originator server without waiting for receipt of the complete data file.

摘要: The invention relates to a method, network node, router, serving node and system for performing multicast in a point to point oriented telecommunication network. The basic idea is to introduce multicast transmission for parts of a network that is basically point-to-point oriented. This is done by creating transport multicast group tunnels between a router and a serving node in order to transport the multicast data. This invention describes the application of multicasting in point to point networks, such as UMTS with a scarce number of resources. In a mobile environment like in UMTS the idea could be implemented by using IP multicast for efficient transmission in the IP network between the SEGSN and GGSN for example on the Gn interface.

摘要: A method and apparatus for tuning to a channel of a Moving Pictures Expert Group transport stream (MPEG-TS), for example used in an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) network, are provided for optimizing a channel change procedure. The method comprises the steps of receiving a MPEG transport stream at a first bit rate, the MPEG transport stream comprising a plurality of television channels. Program clock reference (PCR) values are identified in the received MPEG transport stream, and one or more of the program clock reference (PCR) values are adjusted. The MPEG transport stream, including the adjusted program clock reference values, are transmitted at a second bit rate, for example to a receiver device such as a set top box, thereby enabling the set top box to perform a channel change procedure more quickly.

摘要: A technique for controlling a play-out of a media data stream at a receiving device is provided. The media data stream comprises one or more programs, and each program comprises one or more program components. In a method implementation of the technique, a zone description is defined. The zone description is defined for a media zone for at least one program or at least one program component in the media stream and identifies the media zone for the at least one program or the at least one program component. In a next step, the zone description is associated to a program specific information data segment. The program specific information data segment is part of the media stream and comprises data specifying information at least regarding to the at least one program or at least one program component. The method also comprises transmitting the media data stream towards the receiving device.
