    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. An encoder of a wireless device may receive a transport block (TB) for transmission and segment the transport block into a set of multiple, smaller data segments that respectively correspond to a plurality of code blocks of the TB. The encoder may generate a code block level (CB-level) error detection code (EDC) for a subset of the data segments. The encoder may generate a transport block-level (TB-level) EDC for the TB using the data segments. Each of the code blocks (CBs) may be of the same size and may include one of the data segments. A subset of the CBs may include a data segment from the subset of the data segments and one of the CB-level EDCs. The remaining CBs that are not part of the subset may include a remaining data segments and the TB-level EDC.

    Abstract: A device may generate a first set of encoded bits by mapping an information bit vector to a first set of polarized bit channels of a first polar code according to a first bit index set, the first bit index set being based on respective bit channel reliabilities of the first set of polarized bit channels. The device may transmit the first set of encoded bits to another device over a wireless channel. The device may receive an indication that a decoding of the first set of encoded bits was unsuccessful. The device may generate a second set of encoded bits by mapping a repetition of at least one bit to at least one bit channel of a second set of polarized bit channels of a second polar code according to a second bit index set. The device may transmit the second set of encoded bits to the other device.

    Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, configuration information indicating that the UE is to compress a precoding matrix indicator in connection with channel state information reporting, wherein the precoding matrix indicator is to be compressed based at least in part on a quantization dependency between transmission layers or an orthogonality relationship between the transmission layers, and wherein the configuration information is associated with a type II, higher rank codebook for multiple input multiple output configuration. The UE may transmit, to a base station (BS), the compressed precoding matrix indicator to the base station based at least in part on receiving the configuration information. The UE and BS may use a communication configuration based at least in part on a precoding matrix indicator recovered from the compressed precoding matrix indicator.     Abstract: Precoding matrix indicator (PMI) feedback for Type II channel state information (CSI) feedback in new radio (NR) multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) operations is discussed. According to various aspects, a user equipment (UE) determines a plurality of CSI feedback components and identifies a set of discarded ones of these components based on a particular component value of a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) component. The UE may then generate an adjusted CSI report by adjusting how the discarded feedback components are treated. The resulting adjusted CSI report may then be transmitted to a serving base station.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some wireless communications systems, a base station may implement polar coding to generate codewords for transmission, for example, in a physical broadcast channel (PBCH). The base station may identify a subset of the bandwidth allocated for PBCH transmission (e.g., corresponding to a bandwidth for a synchronization signal), and may assign sub-channels to information bits based on the identified bandwidth subset. The base station may generate a codeword based on the assigned sub-channels, and may map a subset of encoded bits for the codeword to the subset of the bandwidth such that the subset of encoded bits includes bits corresponding to the assigned subchannels for the information bits. A user equipment (UE) may receive the encoded bits in the subset of the bandwidth, and may decode the subset of encoded bits to determine the information bits.

    Abstract: Wireless communication devices are adapted to employ Golay-based matrices for encoding a wireless transmissions. According to at least one example, a wireless communication device can identify an information vector to be transmitted as a wireless communication. A Golay-based generator matrix may be selected based on a length of the information vector, where the selected Golay-based generator matrix is generated by shortening a Golay generator matrix by removing a plurality of columns of systematic bits and a plurality of rows to obtain the shortened generator matrix, and extending the shortened generator matrix to obtain an extended generator matrix by adding columns to at least the systematic bits and appending rows to obtain a desired matrix size. A respective bit value may be determined for bits in each added column and for at least some of the bits in each appended row. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.

    Abstract: The described techniques provide for the use of sub-band-specific reference signal precoding. A user equipment (UE) may apply multiple precoding matrices to a reference signal to generate a set of precoded reference signals and may transmit the precoded reference signals over respective sub-bands within a given reference signal resource set. In some cases, the UE may transmit a different set of precoded reference signals in each of multiple reference signal resource sets. Upon receiving the precoded reference signals, a base station may perform wideband channel estimation for each sub-band in the given reference signal resource set. The base station may compute an average spectral efficiency for each reference signal resource set and may transmit a report to the UE. The report may include one or more communication parameters for future communications between the UE and base station.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communications that support transmitting channel state information (CSI) feedback utilizing flexible uplink control resources. A method may include determining a size of a frequency subband corresponding to components of a CSI feedback report based on configuration signaling or a size of allocated uplink control resources. A method may include encoding a CSI report into a single packet and transmitting the single packet over uplink control resources. A method may include encoding a first plurality of components of a CSI report in a first packet, encoding a second plurality of components of the CSI report in a second packet, and mapping the packets to uplink control resources. A method may include transmitting a first plurality of components of a CSI report on a first slot and a second plurality of components of the CSI report on one or more subsequent slots.
