Abstract:
Disclosed are methods, devices, systems, apparatus, servers, computer-/processor-readable media, and other implementations, including a method, performed at a first processor-based wireless device, that includes obtaining by the first wireless device a communication comprising antenna information for one or more antennas of a second wireless device, determining at the first wireless device signal strength values for signals transmitted from the second wireless device, and performing location determination operations based on the determined signal strength values for the signals transmitted from the second wireless device, and on the antenna information for the one or more antennas of the second wireless device.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to location reporting for extremely high frequency (EHF) devices. Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide an apparatus for wireless communications. The apparatus generally includes a transmit interface configured to output a first frame for transmission to another apparatus at a first time, a receive interface configured to obtain, at a second time, a second frame transmitted by the other apparatus in response to the first frame, and a processing system configured to generate a third frame for transmission to the other apparatus via the transmit interface, the third frame including information indicating a difference between the first time and the second time and an indication of at least one of an angle of departure of the first frame or an angle of arrival of the second frame.
Abstract:
Techniques for positioning with Fine Timing Measurement (FTM) messages are disclosed. An example of a wireless transceiver system for providing a FTM response message is configure to receive a FTM request from an initiating station, the FTM request may include a minimum delta FTM value, a number of bursts exponents value, and a As Soon As Possible (ASAP) value. The transceiver may send a first FTM response message indicating the FTM session is terminated if the wireless transceiver is incapable of meeting the minimum delta FTM value and the number of bursts exponents value, and send a second FTM response message including a status value based on the ASAP value in the FTM request if the wireless transceiver is capable of meeting the minimum delta FTM value and the number of bursts exponents value.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for broadcasting short interframe space information to aid in determining a round trip time are provided. The round trip time is used as an aid in locating nodes within a WiFi or WLAN network. The method begins with capturing a time of transmission of a frame by a transmitting station. The receiving station then captures the time of arrival of the frame just sent by the transmitting station. The receiving station replies with a received frame message and the time of departure is captured. The transmitting station then captures the time of arrival of the received frame message. The captured arrival and departure times of the frame and the received frame message allow the round trip time to be computed. The RTT may then be included as part of a network message.
Abstract:
According to embodiments, methods are presented to for determining precise location of a device by exchanging a plurality of messages with one or more devices (e.g., access points or mobile devices) in vicinity. Embodiments may calculate distance between the devices using round trip time that takes to transmit and receive signals to/from each of the devices. Using definitions that account for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) transmission, the embodiments determine precise location of a device.
