Abstract: In a carrier aggregation or EN-DC scenario, there exist multiple different conditions based on which UE would benefit from a higher or lower grant ratio on a specific carrier as opposed to other carriers. There are a number of criteria based on which UE may select a preferred carrier for uplink grant reception. Some example criteria include self-jamming conditions, thermal constraints, and inter-RAT interference. These and other criteria may form a basis for identifying preferred carriers, non-preferred carriers, or ranking carriers. Various embodiments described provide techniques for a UE to indicate preferred and non-preferred carriers to a serving base station. A serving base station, in turn, can make use of the indication to adjust the ratio at which uplink transmissions are scheduled on these carriers.

Abstract: Techniques for determining a position of a mobile device are provided. A method according to these techniques includes obtaining assistance data comprising information for cells associated with a plurality of wireless transmitters of a wireless communications network based on the coarse location of the mobile device, selecting a plurality of the cells from the assistance data, wherein selecting the plurality of cells includes identifying sets of colocated cells and selecting one cell from each of the colocated sets of cells; measuring signals from the plurality of cells to generate positioning signal measurements; and sending the positioning signal measurements to a location server. A colocated set of cells may include a narrowband cell and a non-narrowband cell, and the narrowband wireless cell may comprise a narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) cell and a non-narrowband cell colocated with the NB-IoT cell at an Evolved Node B (eNodeB).

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus relating to intelligent resource assignment to increase throughput in LTE multiple input multiple output (MIMO) and carrier aggregation (CA) capable devices. In certain aspects, a MIMO and CA capable wireless communication device communicates with a base station (BS) on multiple component carriers (CCs) through multiple radio frequency (RF) chains. In such aspects, the device tentatively switches one or more first RF chains, not assigned to a first CC of the multiple CCs, to the first CC for evaluating a rank of the first CC. The device then determines that the first CC has a higher rank indication (RI) with the one or more RF chains. The device subsequently evaluates one or more performance factors, in conjunction with the higher rank, based on which the device then additionally assigns one or more second RF chains to the first CC.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a power reduction configuration associated with uplink communications performed by the UE within aggregated carriers, and a resource allocation for communicating one or more uplink messages across multiple aggregated carriers (e.g., uplink carrier aggregation (ULCA)). The UE may evaluate power reduction values that are to be used for the multiple aggregated carriers based on the power reduction configuration, and may determine throughput contributions for each respective carrier. Based on the power reduction values and the throughput contributions of the respective carriers, the UE may determine whether to continue operating according to the resource configuration for ULCA, or to revert to single-carrier communications.
