    Abstract: A user equipment configured to: store a L2 and/or L3 multicast capability, wherein a L2 multicast operation enables the user equipment to receive a first L2 message from a first network node, and a second L2 message from a second network node, wherein a payload of second message is a duplicate of a payload of the first message, and wherein a L3 multicast operation enables the user equipment to receive a third L3 message from a third network node, and a fourth L3 message from a fourth network node, wherein a payload of fourth message is a duplicate of a payload of third message, transmit the L2 and/or L3 multicast towards the first or third node, receive a message from the first or third node, wherein the message includes an indication to activate the L2 and/or L3 multicast, and activate the L2 and/or L3 multicast based on the message.

    Abstract: Improved techniques of intra and inter distributed unit mobility include determining, by a user equipment served by a source cell, whether a target cell belongs to the same distributed unit as the source cell based on information sent by the central unit (control plane) after a connection with the network node has been established. The information sent by the network node includes, for each cell, a group identifier identifying the distributed unit with which that cell is associated. When measurement data provided by the user equipment indicates readiness for a serving cell change to a target cell, the user equipment uses the group identifier to determine whether the target cell belongs to the same distributed unit as the source cell (intra-distributed unit mobility scenario) or a different distributed unit as the source cell (inter-distributed unit mobility scenario).

    Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for a method of mobility between distributed units with a local control plane are provided. For example, a method can include detecting, at a target distributed unit, a handover based on an indication from a source distributed unit after a handover command has been sent to a user equipment to hand over from the source distributed unit to the target distributed unit. The method can also include sending, from the target distributed unit to a central unit user plane, a data transmission resume notification, to trigger to the central unit user plane to resume downlink data transmission toward the target distributed unit. The downlink data transmission was previously suspended by instructions from a source distributed unit to the central unit user plane when the handover was initiated from the source distributed unit to the target distributed unit.

    Abstract: A method for a network element, NE, is proposed, which comprises receiving from a user equipment, UE, at least one of a BSR or an uplink MAC-CE; determining to perform an L1 based handover for the UE; and sending an L1 based handover command to the UE. Another method for a UE is proposed, which comprises receiving an L1/L2 mobility configuration; deciding that there is an L1 CSI report to send; determining whether the UE has an UL grant; if it is determined that the UE has an UL grant, the method further comprises: sending at least one of a BSR or an UL MAC-CE to a NE; if it is determined that the UE does not have an UL grant, the method further comprises: sending a dedicated SR to a NE indicating that an L1 CSI report is pending; receiving a scheduling grant from the NE; and sending the L1 CSI report to the NE based on the scheduling grant; and receiving an L1 based handover command from the NE.
