Abstract: A method of providing over-the-air assistance information for interference cancellation or suppression to the receiver is proposed. Under a first solution, a two-stage DCI (downlink control information) or SCI (sidelink control information) scheduling method is proposed. The set of first-stage DCI or SCI provides a part of scheduling information which is beneficial for interference cancellation or suppression and is broadcasted by a transmitter or scheduler to all receivers. The set of second-stage DCI or SCI includes the remaining scheduling information and is unicasted by a transmitter or scheduler to each receiver. Under a second solution, assistance information DCI for interference cancellation or suppression is broadcasted by a transmitter or scheduler to all receivers.

The UE receives, on an unlicensed carrier and from a base station, a downlink signal including Listen-Before-Talk (LBT) parameters, the downlink signal being a non-physical layer signal. The UE performs an LBT operation based on the LBT parameters. The UE transmits an uplink signal to the base station when the LBT operation is successful.

Abstract: A method of beam failure recovery for multi-beam operation in wireless communication systems with beamforming is proposed. Specifically, a four-step beam failure recovery procedure is proposed. In a first step of beam failure detection, UE detects a beam failure condition of the original serving beam pair link. In a second step of new candidate beam identification, UE performs measurements for candidate beam selection. In a third step of beam failure recovery request (BFRQ) transmission, UE transmits a BFRQ message to BS upon the triggering condition for BFRQ transmission is satisfied. In a fourth step of monitoring BS response, UE monitors BS response to decide the success or failure of the beam failure recovery.

Abstract: Techniques and examples of interlace design for New Radio unlicensed spectrum (NR-U) operation are described. An apparatus (e.g., user equipment (UE)) assigns a plurality of resources to a plurality of interlaces such that, when the plurality of resources cannot be evenly distributed among all the plurality of interlaces, one or more remaining resources of the plurality of resources are assigned to one or more interlaces of the plurality of interlaces. The apparatus then performs an uplink (UL) transmission to a wireless network in a New Radio unlicensed spectrum (NR-U) using the plurality of resources with block interlaced frequency-division multiple access (B-IFDMA).

Abstract: A method of control signaling in a beamforming system is proposed. A user equipment (UE) receives control beam transmission from a base station using a set of control beams in a beamforming network. Each control beam comprises a set of DL control resource blocks, a set of UL control resource blocks, and an associated set of beamforming weights. The UE selects a control beam for establishing a connection with the base station. The UE then performs random access with the base station using the selected control beam.

Abstract: A method for harmonized operation between radio link monitor and beam failure recovery is proposed. In one example, upon indication of unsuccessful recovery from beam failure, a counter is initiated to count a configured number of OOS indication before RLF is declared due to beam failure. In another example, upon indication of successful recovery from beam failure, a counter is initiated to count a configured number of IS indication before starting over RLM procedure on its previous observations on failed beams. As a result, either early RLF declaration or RLM reset may be triggered based on BFR procedure to more accurately maintain the link quality.

Abstract: A beamforming system synchronization architecture is proposed to allow a receiving device to synchronize to a transmitting device in time, frequency, and spatial domain in the most challenging situation with very high pathloss. A detector at the receiving device detects the presence of control beams, synchronizes to the transmission and estimates the channel response by receiving pilot signals. The detector has low complexity when exploiting the structure of the pilot signals. The detector consists of three stages that break down the synchronization procedure into less complicated steps. The detector accurately estimates the parameters required for identifying the transmit device and performing subsequent data communication.
