Abstract: Embodiments of an access point (AP), station (STA) and method of sounding are generally described herein. The AP may transmit, during a transmission opportunity (TXOP), a trigger frame (TF) to indicate that an STA is to transmit an uplink sounding packet during an uplink sounding period of the TXOP. The AP may attempt to detect the uplink sounding packet during the uplink sounding period. If the uplink sounding packet is not detected during the uplink sounding period, the AP may transmit a recovery packet to cause other STAs to determine a busy condition during the uplink sounding period. If the uplink sounding packet is detected during the uplink sounding period, the AP may determine a channel estimate for the STA based at least partly on the uplink sounding packet.

Abstract: Devices and methods of estimating the AoD of a STA are generally described. The STA receives comparison symbols from a first AP antenna. The comparison symbols are received prior to and after switching of transmitter chains from a first set of antennas to a second set of antennas. AoD symbols are received immediately after the comparison symbols. A phase and amplitude correction is determined based on a phase and amplitude change between the comparison symbols and the second AoD symbol corrected based thereon. The AoD is subsequently estimated based on the symbol measurements.

Abstract: Devices and methods of estimating the AoD of a STA are generally described. The STA receives and stores an association between tone and transmission angle for each tone transmitted by an AP in different angles. The association indicates that, for each angle, a tone transmitted in the angle is unique. The STA detects a symbol transmitted on each tone, determines the strength and timing of the tone and estimates the AoD based on the association and either or both the strength and timing. Each tone may have multiple symbols and/or each angle multiple tones whose characteristics are averaged to determine the appropriate characteristic of the particular tone or angle. The position of the STA is calculated from the AoD of one or more APs.

Abstract: This disclosure describes methods, apparatus, and systems related to enhanced collaborative time of arrival operations for wireless communications. A device may send trigger frames and may receive one or more null data packets (NDPs) from respective anchor station devices at respective times. The device may send a first null data packet announcement (NDPA) indicating the respective times. The device may send a third NDP. The device may identify one or more uplink NDPAs received from the respective anchor station devices, the one or more uplink NDPAs indicating respective times of arrival of the NDPs at the respective anchor station devices. Abstract: Some demonstrative embodiments include apparatuses, devices, systems and methods of Angle of Departure (AoD) estimation. For example, an apparatus may include circuitry and logic configured to cause a wireless station to determine a beamforming scheme configured for AoD estimation, the beamforming scheme including a plurality of beamforming settings to be applied to a respective plurality of antennas, the beamforming scheme configured to transmit a plurality of tones in a plurality of directions such that a direction may be associated with at least one tone of the plurality of tones; and to sequentially transmit a plurality of transmissions according to the beamforming scheme, a transmission of the plurality of transmissions comprising a transmission via one or more antennas of the plurality of antennas according to one or more beamforming settings corresponding to the one or more antennas.
