Abstract: Embodiments of a Generation Node-B (gNB), User Equipment (UE) and methods for communication are generally described herein. The gNB may allocate a resource pool of physical resource blocks (PRBs) and sub-frames for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) sidelink transmissions. The gNB may receive, from a UE, an uplink control message that indicates that the UE requests a V2V sidelink transmission of a prioritized message. The gNB may select, for the V2V sidelink transmission of the prioritized message, one or more PRBs and one or more sub-frames. The gNB may transmit, to the UE and to other UEs, a downlink control message that indicates: the selected PRBs, the selected sub-frames, and that the other UEs are to mute sidelink transmissions in the selected PRBs in the selected sub-frames to enable the V2V sidelink transmission of the prioritized message.

Abstract: Technology for an apparatus of a user equipment (UE), operable to perform a random-access procedure using a UE-specific control resource set (CORESET) is disclosed. The UE can decode a 5 message, received from the next generation node B (gNB), to perform a contention free random-access (RA) procedure. The UE can encode a random-access channel (RACH) preamble for transmission to the gNB using one or more UE-specific CORESET. The UE can decode a random-access response (RAR) received from the gNB in response to the RACH preamble transmission using the one or more UE10 specific CORESET.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may assess a radio link quality of a plurality of frames for communication, via the interface to the RF circuitry, with a radio access network (RAN) node. When the radio link quality of a frame, of the plurality of frames, is below an out-of-sync (OOS) threshold, the UE may indicate that the frame is OOS. When the radio link quality of a frame, of the plurality of frames, is above an in-sync (IS) threshold that the frame is IS. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE may process information, received from the RAN node indicating a partial subframe, of a subframe, to be used to transmit uplink control information (UCI) to the RAN node. The UE may also perform UCI mapping for using of the partial subframe to transmit UCI via a physical uplink control channel (PUSCH), and proceed by using the partial subframe to communicate the UCI to the RAN node.
