摘要: An off-line web finishing system performs plural functions on a pre-printed and rewound web at a series of pieces of equipment arranged in a line. Tension in the web is set at a variable infeed at a constant value that is sufficient to facilitate handling of the web. A common web-transport system drives all draw rolls in the line in unison, at the same speed, and without slippage between the web and the rolls. In the preferred form, a second drive line rotates in unison the function cylinders of pieces of equipment that are registration sensitive. The second line is driven by a main line shaft of the web transport system via a variable transmission that is adjusted in response to at least one optical scanner that senses misregistrations between the printed pattern on the web and the function cylinders. The registration sensitive function cylinders operate on the web only intermittently. Each function cylinder preferably has an associated scanner that operates a variable transmission between the second line and the associated function cylinder to further control the registration of the equipment to the web.

摘要: A system for disposing of sludge by using the sludge as a primary source of fuel for its disposition by combustion thereof in which a mass of liquified sludge is processed to reduce the solids to a predetermined size for use as the fuel and concurrently separating a substantial portion of the contained liquid, delivering the processed solids and liquids to a combustor for converting the solids to ash and converting the liquids to vapor, introducing ambient air to the combustor to support combustion of the solids while employing a portion of the ambient air to the combustor for removing the vapor at a temperature below the temperature at which the solids are reduced to ash, utilizing a portion of the vapor removed from the combustor to initiate vaporization of the liquid in the mass of liquified sludge being processed initially, using a part of the removed vapor to enter into a heat exchange relationship with the ambient air prior to its being admitted to the combustor, and releasing excess vapor to the ambient atmosphere at a temperature for sanitizing the released vapor to the ambient atmosphere.

摘要: A method for disposing by incineration of waste material containing sludge and garbage of various kinds which when combined results in a composite waste material prepared by performing multiple steps in its handling wherein the composite material is first subjected to a grinding step for thorough intermixing of the sludge that may contain a high percentage of moisture with garbage that can contain very little moisture. After grinding, the composite waste material is processed in a cyclone where the gases that are used to transport the ground matter can be separated while the solids are subjected to classification by the use of a vibratory screen where the paper, fluffy waste, and similar materials can be separated from the smaller and harder particulate components. The separated components are subjected to individual impact grinding steps prior to being recombined in the combustor where incineration takes place. The gases separated in the cyclone separator are reapplied to the grinding steps for moving such material into the incinerating combustor, and any excess gases are delivered to the incinerator, along with ambient air for establishing sufficient oxygen to support combustion in the furnace at a temperature that will sanitize and destroy odors during the incineration of the waste material and after the sanitizing step in the incinerator, the gases are exhausted through suitable heat exchanges and filtering medium.

摘要: Apparatus for processing waste material made up of a mass of comingled abrasive shards and the like, uncrushable and shreddable classes of waste so that the subsequent individual handling of that waste material is made more efficient. The apparatus combines in a common structure rotary disc screen for initially separating the waste material so that the shards and abrasive classes of material are able to drop through the rotary disc screen while the remainder of the material is delivered to the apparatus for gravitational classification as between the uncrushables and shreddables in response to air flow in a controlled atmosphere to promote gravity fall-out separation of the heavier components from the lighter components.

摘要: Apparatus for the cold disinfection of dental and medical instruments includes an envelope of water impervious material and a cold disinfection solution. The envelope may be deformable with a gauze liner bonded within it, and with the solution, or its components, in crushable capsules. In alternate embodiments, the envelope may have a gauze liner bonded to it and saturated with the solution, and the envelope sealed, or the envelope may contain the solution or its components in one or more capsules and with no gauze liner. A further embodiment provides a support for an instrument encased in a gauze sleeve and a reservoir having valved discharge nozzles directed towards the gauze-encased instrument.

摘要: The invention is directed to compounds that are specific inhibitors of PKC delta, and methods and compositions for the treatment and prevention of cancers and other disorders. Compositions comprising compounds of the invention are used to treat cancers such as, for example, carcinoid and neuroendocrine tumors, malignant melanomas, pancreatic, gastrointestinal and lung cancers. Neuroendocrine tumor cell lines of pulmonary and gastrointestinal origin are surprisingly sensitive to PKC delta inhibition by the compounds of the invention. The invention is further directed to methods, compositions and kits containing compounds of the formulas (Ia), (IIa), (IIIa), (IVa), and (V) as disclosed and described in FIGS. 11 and 12.
