Abstract: The systems described herein provide a remote keyboard service for a media device on a computing device without having to invoke an application or unlock the computing device. The computing device can receive a message indicating that a text input field on the other device is selected and present a notification to the user prompting the user to invoke the virtual keyboard on the computing device to provide text input to the selected text input field. The computing device can receive user input selecting the notification and present a virtual keyboard for providing text input to the other device. The computing device can receive keyboard input from the user selecting characters and send the characters to the other device. The other device can then user the characters as text input to the selected text input field.

Abstract: One embodiment provides for an electronic device, comprising a non-transitory machine-readable medium to store instructions, one or more processors to execute the instructions, and a memory coupled to the one or more processors. The memory can be configured to store a set of synchronization data associated with interaction between the electronic device and one or more applications and instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, configure the one or more processors to retrieve a set of synchronization data to be transmitted from the electronic device to select a transport channel from one of a peer-to-peer channel or a network-based channel and transmit the set of synchronization data from the electronic device to one or more remote devices via the selected transport channel.

Abstract: The embodiments set forth a technique for securely identifying relevant computing devices that are nearby. The technique can be implemented at a first computing device, and include the steps of (1) receiving, from a second computing device, an advertisement packet that includes: (i) a network address that is associated with the second computing device, and (ii) a hash value that is calculated using the network address and an encryption key that is associated with the second computing device, and (2) for each known encryption key in a plurality of known encryption keys that are accessible to the first computing device: (i) calculating a temporary hash value using the network address and the known encryption key, and (ii) in response to identifying that the temporary hash value and the hash value match: carrying out an operation associated with the second computing device.

Abstract: At a portable electronic device that includes a portable-device display and is in communication with a vehicle display, displaying a first user interface on the portable-device display. Sending, from the portable electronic device to the vehicle display, information for generating a second user interface, the second user interface including an affordance. While the second user interface is displayed on the vehicle display, detecting an input activating the affordance in the second user interface, and in response, causing the portable electronic device to invoke a digital assistant. In response to invoking the digital assistant, prompting a user for an audible request. In response to receiving the audible request, causing display, within the second user interface, of a digital assistant dialogue box; and subsequently causing display, within the second user interface, of a user interface object associated with a search result, and maintaining the first user interface on the portable-device display.

Abstract: A device displays a first user interface on a first display, including a plurality of objects and corresponding to a second user interface on a second display. While a first object is displayed as a selected object in the second user interface, the device: detects a first input requesting information about a second object; and in response to detecting the first input, displays information about the second object in the first user interface and maintains display of the first object as the selected object in the second user interface. After displaying the information, the device detects a second input selecting the second object. In response to detecting selection of the second input, the device: displays the second object as the selected object in the first user interface; and provides, to the second display, information that enables the second user interface to display the second object as the selected object.

Abstract: This application relates to techniques for anonymously establishing a secure communication session with a wireless client. A described method, performed by an anonymous wireless host, includes advertising a service implemented by the anonymous wireless host as available over a wireless network, receiving an invitation to establish the secure communication session with the wireless client, transmitting an acceptance of the invitation to the wireless client, and establishing the secure communication session over a communication channel. The invitation is received from the wireless client and the acceptance is transmitted to the wireless client via a broadcast address or a multicast address associated with the wireless network. The secure communication session is used to exchange encrypted data between the service and the wireless client.
