Abstract: An apparatus is provided for verifying a plurality of cryptographically signed user electronic records using a corresponding cryptographic proof. Cryptographic keys for verifying the plurality of user electronic records, and corresponding user electronic record schemas are cached in a local data store. The apparatus obtains up-to-date copies of the cryptographic keys and schemas for caching from a remote data store when the remote data store is accessible by the apparatus over the internet. Upon receipt of the data from the user device, when the remote data store is not accessible, the apparatus is configured to identify the cached cryptographic key and schema corresponding to the received cryptographically signed electronic record and cryptographic proof; and determine a verification result for the cryptographically signed electronic record based on the cryptographic proof and the identified cached cryptographic key and schema. An indication of the verification result is then output from the apparatus.

Abstract: A flight departure control system comprises a central departure control system and a plurality of local departure control systems arranged at or in proximity of individual airports. Passengers check-in for flights via the central DCS and for each passenger a passenger data message is created and sent to the local DCS to which the flight relates. On detection of a fault condition at the central DCS or in communications with the central DCS, the local DCS assume responsibility for flights departing from the airport at which they are located based on the received passenger data messages and unchecked-in passengers check-in directly with the local DCS.

Abstract: An item classification system for use in an item handling system is disclosed. The classification system comprises processing means configured to: process an image of an item to determine, based on a first model (101), one or more predetermined first item types, each first item type defined by one or more first item characteristics; process the image to determine, based on the first model (101), a first probability associated with each first item type wherein each first probability is indicative of the likelihood that the item has the first characteristics defining each determined first item type; process the image to determine, based on a second model (103), one or more predetermined second item types, each second item type defined by one or more second item characteristics; process the image to determine, based on the second model (103), a second probability associated with each second item type wherein each second probability is indicative of the likelihood that the item has the second characteristics defining each second item type; and classify the item according to each first item type and each second item type and the probability associated with each first item type and the probability associated with each second item type.

Abstract: An image processing system for categorising the colour of an item is disclosed. The system comprises processing means configured to: process an image of an item to extract a portion of the image where the item is located; determine a first average colour value of a plurality of colour values associated with the portion of the image where the item is located; map the average colour value to one of a plurality of predetermined colour definitions based on a plurality of colour ranges associated with each colour definition; and categorise the colour of the item according to the mapping.

Abstract: A system and method for tracking baggage on cruise liners are provided. A baggage tag is created which includes a unique baggage identifier and a unique passenger identifier that has been allocated by a reservation system. The identifiers are associated and stored in a baggage message. The baggage tag is affixed to an item of baggage and as the passenger checks in the item the tag is scanned and the bag validated and the status of the item in the baggage message is updated. When the passenger boards the ship, they scan a touch point with a mobile communications device which indicates that the item of baggage can now be delivered to their cabin. Shortly before arrival at port, the bags are loaded into a baggage container for unloading at the port and each bag tag is scan and associated with a scanned container identifier. The container is notified to the passenger through a message sent to their mobile communications device. When the container is unloaded the bag tag and the container are both scanned to ensure that the item of baggage has been loaded into the correct container and an error is flagged if the container associated with the bag tag does not match the scanned container.
