    Abstract: The described techniques relate generally to managing in-person access of users to physical properties based at least in part on tracking geographical locations of devices of the users, such as by using one or more geofences created around a physical property to provide authorized users with temporary access to the physical property based at least in part on tracked geographical locations of devices of the users. In some situations, a specialized server provides information to a user's mobile device about the geofence(s), and the mobile device notifies the specialized server when it breaches one or more of the geofences. The specialized server may perform further related activities, such as perform tracking of locations of users as they move around a physical property, and further analyzing the tracked location information to determine associated information and initiate corresponding additional automated activities.

    Abstract: Techniques are described for using computing devices to perform automated operations to control acquisition of images in a defined area, including obtaining and using data from one or more hardware sensors on a mobile device that is acquiring the images, analyzing the sensor data (e.g., in a real-time manner) to determine the geometric orientation of the mobile device in three-dimensional (3D) space, and using that determined orientation to control the acquisition of further images by the mobile device. In some situations, the determined orientation information may be used in part to automatically generate and display a corresponding GUI (graphical user interface) that is overlaid on and augments displayed images of the environment surrounding the mobile device during the image acquisition process, so as to control the mobile device's geometric orientation in 3D space.

    Abstract: Techniques are described for computing devices to perform automated operations related to using images acquired in a building as part of an automated generation process of a floor plan or other mapping information for the building, in some cases without using depth information from depth-sensing equipment about distances from the images' acquisition locations to objects in the surrounding building, and for subsequent use in further automated manners, such as controlling navigation of mobile devices and/or for display to end users in a corresponding graphical user interface. The automated analysis and assessment of the building images may, for example, include incrementally generating partial versions of the mapping information, determining acquisition instructions related to further acquisition of additional images and/or other types of data (e.g., to reduce uncertainty associated with portions of the partial mapping information or otherwise obtain missing data), and providing corresponding guidance in or more manners.

    Abstract: Techniques are described for using data capture devices at a building to automatically generate a building floor plan and associate absolute location data with it, such as by associating separately captured GPS data or other absolute location data with the floor plan, and for presenting a model of the generated floor plan using the associated absolute location data (e.g., at a map position corresponding to the associated absolute location data). In some situations, the presenting of such a building floor plan includes showing varying levels of detail about structural aspects of the building interior and other interior aspects, such as based on the map zoom level and/or other factors. In addition, such presenting of a building floor plan may include automatically determining and using data about surroundings of the building, such as to provide information about views from the building, about directions to nearby points of interest, etc.

    Abstract: Techniques are described for using computing devices to perform automated operations involved in analysis of images acquired in a defined area, as part of generating mapping information of the defined area for subsequent use (e.g., for controlling navigation of devices, for display on client devices in corresponding GUIs, etc.). The defined area may include an interior of a multi-room building, and the generated information including a floor map of the building, such as from an analysis of multiple 360° spherical panorama images acquired at various viewing locations within the building (e.g., using an image acquisition device with a spherical camera having one or more fisheye lenses to capture a panorama image that extends 360 degrees around a vertical axis)—the generating may be further performed without detailed information about distances from the images' viewing locations to objects in the surrounding building.
