Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may configure a system bandwidth of shared spectrum partitioned into a plurality of bandwidth parts based on interference associated with each of the plurality of bandwidth parts. The base station may then transmit the configuration of the system bandwidth to a plurality of devices. A UE may receive, from a base station, a configuration of a system bandwidth of shared spectrum. The system bandwidth may be partitioned into a plurality of bandwidth parts based on interference associated with each of the plurality of bandwidth parts. The UE may then communicate with the base station on at least one of the bandwidth parts.

Abstract: Base station contention window update procedures with autonomous uplink (AUL) in a transmission opportunity (TxOP) is discussed. After acquiring a channel and scheduling the TxOP, a base station may transmit control signals to manage communications with served user equipments (UEs). Management of AUL communications in addition to update of the contention window may be determined based on whether the base station has either or both downlink data and scheduled uplink (SUL) transmissions scheduled for the TxOP. Where both downlink and SUL are scheduled, AUL transmissions are allowed, but update of the contention window uses feedback based on the downlink transmissions. Where SUL are scheduled, but no downlink data, AUL are allowed and the contention window is updated using performance information on the uplink transmissions. Finally, where neither data nor SUL are scheduled, the base station deactivate any AUL resources for the TxOP and will refrain from updating the contention window.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for receiving ACK/NACK reporting in unlicensed IoT systems with long transmission durations. In one example, an eNodeB executes an LBT protocol to gain access to a channel of a shared spectrum, receives radio resource management (RRM) measurement reports from an IoT-U, estimates a number of repetitions used to schedule the IoT-U based on the RRM measurement, and configures the maximum number of HARQ processes that can be scheduled in a frame based on the RRM measurements and the estimate of the repetitions.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may transmit downlink control information to a user equipment (UE). The downlink control information may identify a grantless uplink group associated with one or more grantless uplink subframes for the UE. The UE may transmit uplink control information for the one or more grantless uplink subframes associated with the indicated uplink group of the UE. The UE may then transmit grantless uplink data during at least one of the one or more grantless uplink subframes based at least in part on the grantless uplink group associated for the UE and the uplink control information.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for partitioning two or more dimensions of an uplink transmission, where different partitions in each partitioned dimension can be used to provide different feedback information. A UE may measure one or more downlink transmissions from a base station (e.g., beam measurements in a beam sweep procedure), and select a partition of one of the partitioned dimensions to indicate feedback related to the measured downlink transmissions. The feedback may indicate, for example, a particular beam that may be used for an active beam pair, beam refinement information, or other feedback. The partitioned dimensions may include one or more of time resource, a frequency resource dimension, a root sequence dimension, a cyclic shift dimension, a time-frequency dimension, or any combination thereof.

Abstract: Some techniques described herein assist a user equipment with acquiring and/or reacquiring, from a base station, a dynamic list of channels to be used for frequency hopping when communicating over an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, thereby increasing communication reliability and promoting coexistence in the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. Some techniques described herein also assist the user equipment in obtaining the list of channels with low latency (e.g., shortly after the list has changed) and with low power consumption. Abstract: Aspects presented herein provide for dual connectivity with a standalone service provider in the unlicensed spectrum. A first base station may receive, from a UE, an indication of a capability for standalone operation in a first RAT that utilizes an unlicensed frequency spectrum and a dual connectivity capability involving the first RAT and a second RAT that utilizes a licensed frequency spectrum, wherein dual connectivity comprises the UE being connected to a master base station on a first frequency and a secondary base station on a second frequency at a same time. The first base station may signal a first set of procedures for dual connectivity when the level of support at the first base station is at higher layers of the first RAT and may signal a second set of procedures when the level of support at the first base station extends to lower layers of the first RAT.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) operating in unlicensed spectrum may determine that a base station is not transmitting during a particular time period (e.g., by detecting the absence of a control signal). The UE may then perform a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure and, if the channel is available, may perform an autonomous uplink (UL) transmission. The autonomous UL transmission may include control information to facilitate decoding. Thus, the base station may receive the control information, and decode the rest of the autonomous UL transmission accordingly. The base station may configure the UE for autonomous UL transmissions when the radio link is established, and may also send dynamic configuration information to initiate, suspend, or reconfigure parameters for autonomous UL transmissions.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method includes sensing an indication of first radio access technology (RAT) communications occupying a shared radio frequency spectrum band; and configuring, in response to the sensing, at least one parameter of a second RAT used by a device to contend for access to the band. A second method includes randomly selecting a number from a range of numbers extending between a lower bound and an upper bound; contending for access to a shared radio frequency spectrum band by performing an extended clear channel assessment (ECCA) procedure over a plurality of CCA slots, the plurality of CCA slots including a first number of CCA slots equal to the upper bound; and winning contention for access to the band after determining, while performing the ECCA procedure, that the band is available for a second number of CCA slots equal to the randomly selected number.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Some wireless communications systems may support communications between a base station and a user equipment (UE) on multiple carriers. A UE may maintain a connection with a base station on a first carrier (e.g., an anchor carrier), and the UE may use a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle on a second carrier. The DRX cycle may include scheduled on-durations during which the UE may monitor the second carrier for signaling from the base station. To reduce the power consumption at the UE associated with repeatedly monitoring scheduled on-durations, the base station may transmit wake-up signaling to the UE on the first carrier to identify the on-durations that include data from the base station. Accordingly, the UE may monitor these on-durations for the data and avoid monitoring other on-durations to limit power consumption.
