    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for transmitting and processing channel state information (CSI) reference signals (CSI-RS). An exemplary method includes determining a configuration of channel state information reference signals (CSI-RSs), wherein the configuration indicates a set of resource elements (REs) to be used for CSI-RSs and a first mapping of CSI-RS ports to the set of REs; sending an indication of the configuration of the CSI-RSs; and transmitting the CSI-RSs according to the determined configuration.

    Abstract: Channel state information (CSI) operations are disclosed with regard to elevation beamforming (EB)/full dimension (FD) multiple input, multiple output (ED/FD-MIMO) operations. With CSI processing associated with multiple CSI-reference signal (CSI-RS) resources, ambiguities may arise in determining the CSI reporting type and rank. CSI reporting type may be determined using a last reported beam selection indicator (BI) or, in the absence of a BI, may be determined according to a predefined rule. When rank and BI are reported separately and rank is absent, user equipment may determine a default reference rank for CSI reporting based on either or both of previously reported rank or BI. When rank and BI are jointly reported, encoding schemes with fixed bitwidths determined based on either CSI-RS processes or resources may be used to enhance decoding. CSI-RS antenna ports, processes, or resources may also be used in determining application of CSI processing relaxation.

    Abstract: Enhanced channel state information (CSI) feedback is disclosed for full dimensional multiple input, multiple output (FD-MIMO) operations. In one aspect, a CSI process is defined that may be used to identify an azimuth and elevation CSI-reference signal (RS) ports. A user equipment (UE) will send a precoding matrix indictor (PMI) report including a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) for the azimuth ports and a PMI for the elevation ports. One of the PMIs is assigned a low rank. The base station will use the two PMIs to create a whole channel precoding matrix. In another aspect, a single CSI process is configured having a plurality of CSI-RS resources. The UE generates channel measurement information for each of the CSI-RS resources, but only sets a CSI report to the base station of a subset of the total number of resources.

In some embodiments, a first wireless device at a first location may transmit to a second wireless device at a second location different portions of a message via two or more different spatially separated signal paths in a manner that enables the second wireless device to receive the complete message but prevents reception of the complete message by a third wireless device at a third location different from the second location. The second wireless device may receive different portions of the message via the two or more different spatially separated signal paths, may assemble the message from the received different portions of the message.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. An active wireless device, such as a user equipment (UE), a network entity, or both, may receive or otherwise determine a resource allocation for communication with a passive device. The active device may select one or more parameters of a waveform transmission (e.g., a transmission power, duration, or both) for activating the passive device while accounting for a time gap between resources. In some cases, a network entity may configure a list of parameters including the one or more parameters via control signaling. The active device may transmit the waveform transmission to the passive device in accordance with the one or more parameters, which may activate the passive device.

The UE may identify a channel state information (CSI) trigger event. The UE may transmit an accumulated CSI report comprising CSI for each downlink transmission of the plurality of downlink transmissions in accordance with the CSI trigger event, wherein a quantization level of the CSI for each downlink transmission in the accumulated CSI report is based at least in part on a time between the downlink transmission and the CSI trigger event.
