    Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to listen-before-talk (LBT) are provided. A first wireless communication device performs an LBT in a channel to contend for a first transmission opportunity (TXOP). The first wireless communication device receives, from a second wireless communication device, a first reservation signal reserving a second TXOP in the channel in response to the LBT, the second TXOP being different from the first TXOP. The first wireless communication device adjusts a signal detection threshold based on transmit power information associated with at least one of the first wireless communication device, the second wireless communication device, first data traffic to be communicated in the first TXOP, or second data traffic to be communicated in the second TXOP. The first wireless communication device determines whether to yield channel access during the second TXOP based on a signal measurement of the first reservation signal and the adjusted signal detection threshold.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for configuring a user equipment (UE) with a number of uplink transmission configuration states that may be mapped to corresponding uplink transmission parameters. The uplink transmission parameters may be associated with one or more of a directional uplink transmission beam, a set of base stations that are to receive an uplink transmission for joint processing, uplink reference signal transmissions, or combinations thereof. An indication of a first uplink transmission configuration state may be provided to the UE, and the UE may transmit the uplink transmission based at least in part on a first set of uplink transmission parameters that are associated with the first uplink transmission configuration state.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. The described techniques provide for transmission of uplink data from a user equipment (UE) in the absence of scheduled uplink resources for the uplink data transmission that are allocated to the UE prior to the transmission of the uplink data. Various examples provide uplink configurations that may be used for unscheduled uplink transmissions of a UE, which may be selected dynamically or semi-statically. Unscheduled uplink transmissions may be transmitted in shared radio frequency spectrum according to one or more frame structures, and access to the shared radio frequency spectrum may be determined based on a priority of an operator associated with a UE for accessing the spectrum. Beamforming techniques may be used for transmissions and beam widths may be selected based on the information in a transmission, an operator priority for use of shared radio frequency spectrum, or any combination thereof.

    Abstract: Flexible waveform synthesis is disclosed for new radio (NR) shared spectrum (NR-SS) networks. In order to accommodate variable transmission resources, a transmitter may construct an M×N grid to model a resource element (RE) map of transmission resources available to the transmitter within a shared communication channel, where M corresponds to a number of symbols for a scheduled physical signal and N corresponds to a number of tones of a transmission bandwidth for the transmitter. The transmitter may then map the M×N grid to the RE map and puncture one or more REs associated with the subbands unavailable for transmission in the transmission resources. The transmitter may then transmit a transmission according to the unpunctured REs of the RE map.

    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for frame based operation and medium contention procedures in wireless networks. In some aspects, devices of a wireless network may perform receiver side contention operations. To illustrate, reference signals from a receiving device may be transmitted to a transmitting device and used by the transmitting device to estimate interference for transmitter side transmissions. Such receiver side reference signals may more accurately reflect the interference profile that transmissions sent by the transmitting device will face, such as when operating in a spectrum shared with many devices. The transmitting device may utilize the beam(s) that satisfy interference criteria when receiving the reference signals to transmit data. Receiver side frame based operation may provide a more stable interference profile which enables better rate prediction, and the better rate prediction may increase reliability and overall network and medium throughput.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) and a base station may communicate in an unlicensed spectrum (e.g., a shared radio frequency spectrum band). As such, the UE may determine a codebook size for transmitting hybrid access request (HARQ) acknowledgement (ACK) feedback with respect to the unlicensed spectrum. Accordingly, the UE may base the HARQ ACK codebook size on a number of HARQ processes with which the UE has been configured. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may base the HARQ ACK codebook size on a number and/or duration of downlink channel monitoring occasions indicated by the base station. In some cases, the UE may base the HARQ ACK codebook size on a combination of the techniques described herein.

A base station may identify a plurality of downlink carriers for a transmission time interval (TTI), e.g., a subframe. The base station may identify a period of inactivity for one or more of the plurality of downlink carriers during the TTI, which may correspond to one or more orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols of the subframe. The base station may transmit narrowband reference signals (NB-RSs) over the one or more carriers during the period of inactivity according to a channel reservation narrowband reference signal (NB-RS) pattern. The channel reservation NB-RS pattern may include a first set of time-frequency resources associated with a baseline NB-RS pattern and a second set of supplemental time-frequency resources associated with a period of inactivity.

A base station may configure a system bandwidth of shared spectrum partitioned into a plurality of bandwidth parts based on interference associated with each of the plurality of bandwidth parts. The base station may then transmit the configuration of the system bandwidth to a plurality of devices. A UE may receive, from a base station, a configuration of a system bandwidth of shared spectrum. The system bandwidth may be partitioned into a plurality of bandwidth parts based on interference associated with each of the plurality of bandwidth parts. The UE may then communicate with the base station on at least one of the bandwidth parts.
