    Abstract: A method for wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE) includes transmitting, to a network node, a group of physical random access channel (PRACH) preambles. Each PRACH preamble may be transmitted during a respective PRACH occasion of a group of PRACH occasions. The method also includes receiving, from the network node via a downlink control channel, a downlink grant indicating downlink resources for receiving a random access response (RAR) based on transmitting the group of PRACH preambles. The downlink control channel may be scrambled based on a random access-radio network temporary identifier (RA-RNTI) associated with a single PRACH occasion of the group of PRACH occasions. The method still further includes receiving, from the network node via the downlink resources, the RAR based on receiving the downlink grant. The method also includes transmitting, to the network node, a random access message based on receiving the RAR.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to transmit multiple repetitions of a random access message using multiple spatial filters. In some cases, the UE may transmit each repetition of the random access message using a same transmission power determined based on one of the spatial filters. In other cases, the UE may transmit each repetition of the random access message using a different transmission power determined in accordance with power control parameters corresponding to the respective spatial filters. The UE may utilize a spatial filter of a first-received responsive random access message to perform subsequent transmissions of a random access procedure. In the case of a failure of the random access procedure, the UE may increment (or refrain from incrementing) a power ramping counter based on spatial filters used to re-initiate the random access procedure.

    Abstract: A reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) may include multiple sub-RIS, and the base station may configure the RIS and the multiple sub-RIS with RIS sync raster including multiple center frequencies. The RIS may be configured to simultaneously apply different water-markings and reflect the incident beam into different beams in different directions. The base station may perform a beam-sweeping by transmitting synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) on multiple SSB beams, and the RIS may receive one SSB beam of the multiple SSB beams and reflect the SSB beams on the RIS sync raster. A UE may be configured to monitor the base sync raster and the RIS sync raster for a suitable SSB beam, and transmit a feedback report to the base station indicating the suitable beam. The base station may configure the RIS based on the feedback report received from the base station for beam management.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for joint sensing and data communication. A first sensing signal and a second sensing signal are transmitted in sequence, from a transmitter and using the same carrier frequency, for combined processing by a receiver. In some implementations, the sensing signals are radar signals. Data communication during an intervening time period between the first sensing signal and the second sensing signal involves the transmitter sending a data communication signal to another device or vice versa. Phase continuity between the first sensing signal and the second sensing signal can be maintained through performing radio frequency (RF) tuning on the transmitter after the transmitter transmits the data communication signal. The RF tuning may involve storing and restoring an operating state of a power amplifier in the transmitter. Alternatively, phase continuity can be maintained through preventing the transmitter from transmitting over an entirety of the intervening time period.
