    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support group-based acknowledgment feedback techniques. Two or more different groups of downlink transmissions may each have an associated transport block (TB) level or code block group (CBG) level group-based acknowledgment feedback, and a base station may transmit downlink control information to a UE that indicates one or more parameters that are used to determine which downlink transmissions are to be reported in the group-based feedback at a TB level, CBG level, or combinations thereof. Based on the parameters in the downlink control information, the UE may determine the feedback to be reported, and a timing for when to transmit the feedback to the base station.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a set of one or more uplink grants scheduling at least a first uplink transmission and a second uplink transmission during a channel occupancy time of an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. The UE may identify a transmission gap between the first uplink transmission and the second uplink transmission of the plurality of uplink transmissions by the UE during the channel occupancy time, the transmission gap exceeding a threshold time. The UE may determine that the transmission gap corresponds to a lost uplink grant. The UE may modify the first uplink transmission or the second uplink transmission based at least in part on the determination that the transmission gap corresponds to the lost uplink grant.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In systems supporting multiple communication protocol types (e.g., ultra-reliable low-latency communication and enhance mobile broadband communication), a user equipment may implement multiplexing rules for handling overlapping transmissions of different communication protocols. For example, if lower latency data supports multiplexing with higher latency data and a lower latency resource overlaps (either partially or completely) with a higher latency resource, a number of options can be taken to control multiplexing. Similarly, if low latency uplink control information supports multiplexing with a slot-based physical uplink shared channel, and the physical uplink shared channel has its own uplink control information, a number of options can be taken to control multiplexing. If slot-based uplink control information overlaps (either partially or completely) with low latency data, then, likewise, a number of options can be taken to control multiplexing. Controlling multiplexing may support meeting low latency thresholds.

    Abstract: In order to improve the selection of search space candidates for a downlink control channel, an apparatus determines a set of decoding candidates of a lower aggregation level for a downlink control channel based on a random selection from a plurality of potential decoding candidates, wherein the plurality of potential decoding candidates are defined from a second set of decoding candidates of a higher aggregation level. The apparatus then attempts to decode the downlink control channel based on determined sets of decoding candidates of different aggregation levels. The downlink control channel may comprise a PDCCH.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Some wireless systems may benefit from estimation of location of a user equipment (UE) within the system. Such estimations may be based at least in part on pilot signals received from one or more reference points (e.g., base stations, access points, etc.). However, in some cases, the communication range of the pilot signals may be too small to support location estimation for at least some UEs in the system. Further, the pilot signals may consume time-frequency resources, which may reduce throughput for the system. In accordance with the described techniques, highly detectable pilot signals may coexist with synchronization signal (SS) block transmissions. Such coexistence may improve accuracy of location estimations for some, or all UEs in the system, or otherwise benefit the system.

    Abstract: A base station may determine a Doppler metric associated with a wireless channel and a user equipment (UE). The Doppler metric may be determined from received information related to Doppler effects measured by the UE or from directly measured Doppler effects associated with uplink data received from the UE. Based on the determined Doppler metric, the base station may select one or both of a reference signal (RS) density and a channel estimation technique for the wireless channel and associated UE. The base station may transmit an indication of the RS density to the UE. Downlink data bursts and uplink data bursts may include RSs and data according to the indicated RS density. Further, the base station may transmit to the UE, an indication to communicate using the selected wireless channel estimation technique.

    Abstract: Hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ)-acknowledgement (ACK) feedback codebook enhancements are disclosed. A size of feedback codebook may be reduced explicitly or implicitly. For example, an indicator may be identified by a corresponding field of a downlink control message. In some aspects, the indicator may indicate that multiple Physical Downlink or Uplink Shared Channels (PDSCHs/PUSCHs) are actually scheduled during one or more slots of a window corresponding to the feedback codebook. Responsive to receiving the indicator, a device may refrain from reducing the size of the feedback codebook to exclude acknowledgement feedback for additional possible PDSCH/PUSCH occasions of the slots of the window. In some aspects, a device identifies possible PDSCH/PUSCH occasions that occur outside of one or more Channel Occupancy Times (COTs) of a window. The device may generate a reduced size feedback codebook by excluding the possible PDSCH/PUSCH occasions that occur outside of the COTs of the window.
