Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit concurrent messages over a sidelink channel to another UE and over an uplink channel to a base station. The UE may transmit, to a base station, a report indicating a capability of the UE to concurrently transmit over a sidelink channel and an uplink channel. The UE may receive, from the base station and based on the report, a transmission configuration scheduling a concurrent sidelink and uplink transmission within a resource shared by the sidelink channel and the uplink channel. The UE may then transmit the concurrent sidelink and uplink transmission within the resource shared by the sidelink channel and the uplink channel based on the transmission configuration. The other UE and the base station may receive the concurrent sidelink and uplink transmission and may decode different layers of the transmission.

Abstract: In a particular implementation, a method of wireless communication includes transmitting, from a first user equipment (UE) to a second UE, a radio resource control (RRC) request that includes a first discontinuous reception (DRX) preference at the first UE. The method also includes receiving, at the first UE from the second UE, a RRC setup message that includes a second DRX preference at the second UE. The method further includes transmitting, from the first UE to the second UE, a RRC setup complete message that includes an indication of a confirmed DRX cycle.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a message indicating that a base station supports allocating resources for sidelink communications using a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second RAT that is different from the first RAT. The UE may transmit a sidelink information message to the base station using the first RAT that indicates that sidelink communications are to be performed using either the second RAT or both the first RAT and the second RAT. The UE may receive a configuration message from the base station that comprises an identifier for the sidelink communications and an indication of available sidelink resources. The UE may transmit, based at least in part on the configuration message, a request for resources within the available sidelink resources, the request indicating the identifier and a buffer status report (BSR).

Abstract: Aspects are provided of dedicated paging schemes for vehicle UEs to communicate with pedestrian UEs in V2P communication and that also allows pedestrian UEs to power-efficiently monitor for such V2P communications. A vehicle UE provides an indication of a V2P communication to a pedestrian UE in a resource from a plurality of resources. The vehicle UE then transmits a message to the pedestrian UE based on the indication. The pedestrian UE monitors the plurality of resources for the indication of the V2P communication from the vehicle UE. The pedestrian UE receives the indication of the V2P communication. The pedestrian UE then receives the message from the vehicle UE based on the indication.

A method that may be performed by a device in a vehicle includes wirelessly transmitting a data packet directly via a first device-to-device (D2D) communication link to another device in the vehicle; monitoring for an acknowledgment (ACK) of the data packet; deciding whether to retransmit the data packet to the other device, based on the monitoring; and wirelessly transmitting the data packet to a transmission relay, wherein an intended destination of the data packet is the other device, wherein the monitoring for the ACK comprises monitoring for a first ACK from the other device and a second ACK from the transmission relay.

A user equipment (UE) may communicate with one or more other UEs over a sidelink communications link, and may perform radio link monitoring (RLM) of the sidelink. A first UE may transmit, to a second UE, a first message in a first transmission time interval (TTI) via a sidelink communication link. The first UE may monitor the sidelink communications link during a second TTI subsequent to the first TTI for a feedback message from the second UE in response to the first message transmitted by the first UE. The monitoring may be a part of a RLM procedure for the sidelink communications link. The first UE may increment a counter based on or an unsuccessful receipt of the feedback message in the second TTI.
