Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A hub user equipment (UE) in a star topology may broadcast to a set of peripheral UEs indicating slots when the hub UE will not be in a transmission mode. The hub UE may broadcast a slot format indication to the peripheral UEs to indicate operating modes in a set of slots. In a first group of slots, the hub UE may operate in a forward mode, transmitting sidelink communications to the peripheral UEs. In a second group of slots, the hub UE may operate in a reverse mode, receiving sidelink communications from the peripheral UEs. In slots when the hub UE operates in the reverse mode, if a peripheral UE does not have data or control information, the peripheral UE may enter a sleep mode in one or more slots of the second group to save power.

A first user equipment (UE) may receive, from a second UE, an indication of a first uplink timing advance for communications from the second UE to a base station. The UE may estimate, based at least in part on the first uplink timing advance received from the second UE, a second uplink timing advance for transmission of a random access message from the first UE to the base station. The UE may transmit, to the base station, the random access message using the second uplink timing advance.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a position estimation entity configures a sidelink anchor group with sidelink anchor(s), to which respective sidelink PRS pre-configuration(s) are sent. A UE transmits a request to schedule an on-demand sidelink PRS position estimation session of the UE. The position estimation entity provides the UE with assistance data associated with the sidelink anchor group for the on-demand sidelink PRS position estimation session. The UE sends the sidelink anchor group a sidelink PRS trigger to perform a sidelink PRS exchange with some or all of the sidelink anchor group in accordance with the respective sidelink PRS pre-configuration(s).

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques related to wireless communication system in which a network node is allowed to puncture a reference signal (RS) to deliver high priority data (e.g., URLLC data) to a user equipment (UE) that is not currently being served by the network node. In an aspect, the RS comprises a puncturable subset and an unpuncturable subset. In an aspect, the puncturable subset comprises resources of the RS that are allowed to be punctured, and the unpuncturable subset comprises resources of the RS that are prohibited from being punctured. In an aspect, the network node transmits the RS such that unpuncturable subset indicates whether or not the puncturable subset of the RS has or has not been punctured.

Abstract: A method of measurement gap (MG) configuration of a first user equipment (UE) for sidelink positioning reference signal (SL-PRS) measurements comprises determining, at a network node, information regarding a first positioning reference signal (PRS) measurement to be made by the first UE. A base station may explicitly or implicitly identify one or more parameters associated with a user equipment (UE), and may classify the UE into a cluster of UEs based on identifying the one or more parameters. The base station may determine a customized function block based on classifying the UE into the cluster of UEs. For example, the base station may determine the customized function block based on determining whether the cluster of UEs is associated with a pre-trained customized function block. The base station may then transmit the customized function block to the UE. The UE may receive the customized function block and may process one or more signals at the UE based on the received customized function block.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Pre-discrete Fourier transform (DFT) time-domain spreading codes may be applied for UE multiplexing for uplink control information (e.g., over shared resources of an uplink slot). For example, a moderate number of UEs may be multiplexed within the same slot by having each UE spread modulation symbols before DFT-spreading by different spreading code. For orthogonality across UEs, the pre-DFT spreading codes may be selected as orthogonal cover codes (OCCs). The spreading sequences can be generated from a set of any orthogonal sequences or generated from unitary matrices. In some cases, orthogonality in the time domain may be kept as well as a frequency division multiplexed (FDM) structure in the frequency domain. For such property, a Fourier basis OCC design may be used. In some other examples, a Hadamard matrix based OCC design may be used.

Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and computer-readable media for facilitating phase jump estimation for SL DMRS bundling are disclosed herein. An example method includes receiving, from another device, first information at a first symbol of a first slot, the first slot including at least the first symbol and a first reference signal. The example method also includes receiving second information at a second symbol of a second slot, the second slot including at least the second symbol and a second reference signal, the first information and the second information being repetitions. The example method also includes generating a first reference signal copy based at least on the second reference signal and a phase jump between the first slot and the second slot. Additionally, the example method includes performing channel estimation across the first slot and the second slot based on an aggregation of the first reference signal and the first reference signal copy.
