Abstract: Various aspects of methods, systems, and use cases may be used to inflate a balloon catheter using a syringe. The syringe may include a channel portion shaped to create a channel, and a plunger, for example including an inserted end and a free end, which when inserted in the channel to place the inserted end at a plunger starting position, causes a starting pressure to be applied to the balloon catheter. In an example, the channel portion or the plunger includes at least one visual indicia indicating the plunger starting position, the plunger starting position located along an insertion axis (e.g., of the channel portion and the plunger).

Abstract: An articulating medical device including handle and an articulating elongate member extending from the handle. The handle is a housing which includes at least one rotatable member, defining an arcuate track extending for a partial rotation about a center axis of rotation, at least one clamp captured, translatable, and rotatable within the arcuate track, and at least one articulation cable, fastened to the at least one clamp and extending outward from the handle, toward the articulating elongate member, including extending, when under tension, along a first lateral periphery of the at least one rotatable member and within a channel formed in the rotatable member. The at least one clamp translates within the arcuate track to accommodate slack in the at least one articulation cable when the at least one articulation cable is not under tension.

Abstract: A laser can be controlled based on different tissue compositions, such as in real time. After a first time period, a first composition of a in vivo target site can be identified. Based on the first composition, a plurality of lasers can be controlled to emit light at a first wavelength where controlling includes activating a first combination of the plurality of lasers. After a second time period, a second composition of the in vivo target site different from the first composition can be identified. Based on the second composition, a plurality of lasers can be controlled to emit light at a second wavelength, such as can include activating a second combination of the plurality of lasers. The first combination of the plurality of lasers can be different from the second combination of the plurality of lasers.

Abstract: A single-use or reusable cap or an objective head to a scope can be used for integrating a laser fiber within the objective head but outside a working channel of the scope. The endoscope maintains an attached or embedded permanent laser fiber to ablate particulates that are suctioned into the endoscope assembly via a suction conduit. With such integration, there is no need to manipulate the laser fiber into a working channel; rather, a practitioner, e.g., physician, can move the medical device, including the laser fiber, as an entire unit into the patient toward the target stone and allow for suction of the stone through a working channel without blocking of the working channel by the laser fiber.

Abstract: A suction or other component of an endoscope system may be cycled on and off or otherwise controlled without requiring direct user input, such as automatically or semi-automatically using a current or historical state of a laser generator, a blurriness or other information from an image of the working area, a count of fragments of a calculi stone, an intraoperative pressure, an intraoperative temperature, or one or more other characteristics of the laser generator or the targeted calculi stone.

Abstract: This document describes an end effector assembly of a medical device. The end effector assembly can include a jaw assembly including a first jaw member and an opposing second jaw member that can be pivotably coupled to the first jaw member at a fulcrum. The jaw assembly can be movable between a first position and a second position. An electrode can be arranged on an inner surface of the first jaw member or the second jaw member. The electrode can include a plurality of segments, such as can be arranged to be sequentially extending outward in a row away from the fulcrum. The segments can be spaced-apart from each other and individually deformable.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and executable programs for providing lung candidacy information to health care professionals. A method includes receiving three-dimensional image data categorized as lung lobe voxels, airway voxels, or lung fissure voxels. A fissure integrity score is generated for the lung fissure voxels. First perspective transparent views of the categorized lung lobe voxels, the categorized airway voxels, and the categorized lung fissure voxels are generated based on a first point of view. The first perspective view of the lung fissure voxels includes a visual representation of fissure integrity based on the generated fissure integrity scores for the corresponding voxels. A report is generated that includes the generated views. The report is outputted.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for identifying a target in vivo are disclosed. A target identification system for use in electrosurgery includes a probe, an optical splitter, and a spectroscopy system. The probe includes an optical pathway to pass a first optical signal to an anatomical target and at least a portion of a second optical signal from the anatomical target. The optical splitter includes a first port to direct the first optical signal to the optical pathway and to receive the at least a portion of the second optical signal from the optical pathway, a second port to receive the first optical signal, and a parabolic reflector to redirect the portion of the second optical signal. The spectroscopy system can identify a characteristic of the anatomical target based on the redirected at least a portion of the second optical signal.
