Abstract: A control device for a piece of powered equipment having an electronic sensor and an electronic control board for controlling the equipment depending on a control signal from the sensor. The electronic sensor is a contactless optical sensor, provided in an interface area of the control device, configured to measure a distance separating at least one target, located in the interface area, and the optical sensor, the electronic board being configured to establish a first control of a main function of the powered equipment, when a signal from the optical sensor is established for a measured distance within a first range of distances, and to establish a control for at least one additional function of the powered equipment, different from the main function, when a signal from the optical sensor is established for a measured distance greater than the first range of distances.

Abstract: A power tool system includes a battery pack, a charger connectable to the battery pack, and a power tool body connectable to the battery pack. The battery pack includes a battery pack memory that stores identification information in a smallest unit allowing for communication with the charger and the power tool body. Each of the charger and the power tool body includes a device memory that stores at least one piece of identification information of a usable battery pack. Each of the charger and the power tool body or the battery pack includes a determination unit that determines whether or not the at least one piece of identification information stored in the device memory includes the identification information stored in the battery pack memory.

Abstract: Device for operating an electric motor, comprising a detection unit for detecting zero-crossings and phase angles of applied phase-shifted sinusoidal voltage phases of a multi-phase power supply network; and a switching unit for connecting half-waves of the applied sinusoidal voltage phases through by means of semiconductor switches in accordance with switching patterns applied to the semiconductor switches, said patterns being synchronised with the detected phase angles and zero-crossings, to generate phase-shifted quasi-sinusoidal voltage phases which are applied directly to the electric motor.

Abstract: A motor starter apparatus includes at least one semiconductor switch configured to selectively couple a power source to a motor, at least one current sensor configured to generate a current sense signal indicative of a current provided via the at least one semiconductor switch, and a control circuit coupled to the at least one current sensor and configured to cause the at least one semiconductor switch to momentarily couple the power source to the motor and identify a fault based on a behavior of the current sense signal in response to the momentary coupling. The control circuit may be configured to identify the fault responsive to detecting that a rate of change of the current in response to the momentary coupling meets a predetermined criterion.
