Abstract: A brushless direct-current (BLDC) motor is provided. The motor includes a stator including a stator core, stator teeth, and windings; a rotor shaft disposed within the stator and extending along a longitudinal axis; and a rotor. The rotor includes a rotor core having a cylindrical body, a permanent magnet ring mounted on an outer surface of the cylindrical body with no intermediate adhesive therebetween, and metal sleeve securely fitted outside the permanent magnet ring. The metal sleeve includes a flange extending radially inwardly that covers an axial end of the permanent magnet ring and is bonded to the rotor core to secure the permanent magnet ring to the rotor core.

Abstract: An expandable sintered neodymium-iron-boron magnet, a preparation method, and an application are provided. The magnet has a sintered neodymium-iron-boron magnet and an expandable coating coated on the surface of the sintered neodymium-iron-boron magnet. The sintered neodymium-iron-boron magnet coated with the expandable coating is used to replace a conventional assembly method of an epoxy resin adhesive coating magnet and potting resin glue, so that the magnet coated with the expandable coating may be inserted into a magnetic steel groove. The irreversible expansion of the coating itself is used to fix the magnet in the magnetic steel groove. Meanwhile, the use of the expandable coating shortens the assembly time of motors and improves the assembly accuracy of the motors.

Abstract: An electric propulsion system comprising an electric motor assembly. The electric motor assembly may include a housing having an internal volume, a stator ring disposed about a perimeter of the internal volume, and a rotor positioned within the stator. The electric motor assembly may include a main shaft connected to the rotor via a gear reduction, wherein the main shaft extends through the rotor. The electric motor assembly may include a collar connected to the main shaft, wherein the collar encircles the main shaft, and at least a portion of the collar is configured to direct a fluid away from the main shaft and toward the stator ring.

Abstract: An electric propulsion system for a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft having a heat exchanger to cool fluids used in an electrical engine, the electric propulsion system comprising at least one electrical engine mechanically connected directly or indirectly to a fuselage of the VTOL aircraft and electrically connected to an electrical power source. The electrical engine may comprise an electrical motor having a stator and a rotor; a gearbox assembly comprising a sun gear; at least one planetary gear; a ring gear; and a planetary carrier. The electric engine may include an inverter assembly comprising a thermal plate and an inverter assembly housing; an end bell assembly that is connected to the thermal plate of the inverter assembly; and a heat exchanger comprising an array of cooling fins and tubes.

Abstract: An electrical propulsion system for a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft comprises an electrical motor assembly and an inverter assembly. The inverter assembly comprises a housing, a capacitor assembly, at least one printed circuit board assembly (PCBA), and a plurality of positioning pins. The capacitor assembly comprises a center hole, at least one capacitor, a capacitor housing having at least one busbar, and a plurality of through holes in the capacitor housing. The capacitor assembly and the at least one PCBA are positioned inside the housing. The plurality of positioning pins pass through the through the plurality of through holes of the capacitor housing and the at least one PCBA and are connected to the housing.

Abstract: In a rotor of a motor or the like, in order to suppress scattering of a part of a magnet provided around a rotating shaft, the rotor has a cylindrical magnet through which the rotating shaft passes, a first holder which covers the magnet from one side in an axial direction of the rotating shaft and a second holder which covers the magnet from the other side in the axial direction. The magnet is press-fitted into a first body portion of the first holder and a second body portion of the second holder, and a first end of the first body portion and a second end of the second body portion are joined by welding or the like. An inner diameter of the first end and the inner diameter of the second end are larger than an outer diameter of the magnet.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing magnets and a method of manufacturing a rotor are provided. An intermediate member includes a sheet and magnet bodies. The sheet includes a first sheet surface and a second sheet surface on a side opposite to the first sheet surface. The magnet bodies are located on the first sheet surface. A first die is made of an elastic material having an elastic coefficient lower than the elastic coefficient of the magnet bodies. The intermediate member is arranged between the first die and a second die such that the second sheet surface of the sheet faces the first die. The first die and the second die hold the intermediate member in between. Accordingly, the sheet is cut at positions between adjacent ones of the magnet bodies.
