    Abstract: An active antenna for UHF/VHF signal receiving is described, the active antenna being capable of configuration in one of a plurality of possible modes. The active antenna includes an antenna element configured for multiple resonances in the UHF/VHF bands, and capable of generating multiple radiation modes as well as active impedance matching using a microprocessor and multi-port switch having variable or multiple selectable modes. The active antenna may include a second antenna element arranged in a right-angle orientation with respect to the first antenna element. The first antenna element, second antenna element, or a combination may be selected for receiving signals in at a desired frequency. A three-dimensional antenna assembly is also described. Each of the examples illustrate an active beam steering antenna capable of UHF/VHF signal receiving.

    Abstract: A handheld device includes a metal frame, two switches, and an antenna feedpoint, where two slits are disposed at the metal frame; the slits divide the metal frame into a left frame, a middle frame, and a right frame; two sides of each slit are bridged by one switch, where one of the switches is in a connected state, the other of the switches is in a disconnected state, and the two switches perform state switching when a user's finger connects a slit corresponding to the switch in a disconnected state; and the antenna feedpoint is electrically connected to the middle frame, and the left frame and the right frame are grounded, to form an antenna.

    Abstract: There is provided a planar antenna device having a first antenna and a second antenna arranged on a front surface of a substrate to be set in parallel to an up and down direction. The first antenna and the second antenna are arranged such that the magnitude of the difference between the lengths of predetermined sections of the transmission line parts becomes one of a positive odd multiple of a half wavelength of the guide wavelength of electric waves which can be transmitted in the transmission line parts and a positive even multiple of a half wavelength of the guide wavelength. The predetermined sections are provided in sections from the connection parts to the antenna elements.

    Abstract: An electronic device may have a display in a housing with a metal wall. An antenna may have an antenna ground formed from the wall and an antenna resonating element. Transceiver circuitry may be coupled to an antenna feed that extends between the antenna resonating element and the antenna ground. A return path may extend between the antenna resonating element and the antenna ground in parallel with the feed. The antenna resonating element may have segments that are coupled by a frequency dependent filter. At a first frequency, the filter may have a low impedance so that the antenna resonating element has a first effectively length. At a second frequency that is greater than the first frequency, the filter may have a high impedance so that the antenna resonating element has a second effective length that is shorter than the first effective length.

    Abstract: A mobile device includes a ground element, a first radiation element, a second radiation element, a third radiation element, a matching circuit, and a first metal frame. The first radiation element and the second radiation element are both coupled to a grounding point on the ground element. The second radiation element and the first radiation element extend in opposite directions. The third radiation element is coupled through the matching circuit to the first radiation element. The first metal frame is coupled to a connection point on the third radiation element. An antenna structure is formed by the first radiation element, the second radiation element, the matching circuit, the third radiation element, and the first metal frame. A signal source is coupled to a feeding point on the first radiation element, so as to excite the antenna structure.

    Abstract: The present application is directed to managing the length of a set of one or more conductors in an auxiliary electronic element, which is coupled to a wireless communication device. The auxiliary electronic element includes the set of one or more conductors coupled to and extending away from main internal electronic circuitry of the auxiliary electronic element, the main internal electronic circuitry supporting and controlling at least some of the operation of the auxiliary electronic element. The set of one or more conductors extends through an area proximate to at least one of one or more antennas of the wireless communication device a predetermined adjusted length away from the main internal electronic circuitry, in which the at least one of one or more antennas of the wireless communication device supports a wireless communication connection with another wireless communication device. The predetermined adjusted length of the set of one or more conductors is selected so as to match a one quarter length of a longest wavelength of one or more frequencies of the wireless communication connection associated with the at least one of the one or more antennas, which are affected by the set of one or more conductors of the auxiliary electronic element extending through the area proximate thereto.

    Abstract: An antenna includes a polymer coating having a VLF/LF element and an HF/VHF element embedded therein. A blocking choke is interposed between the VLF/LF element and the antenna feed t block HF/VHF signals. Small chokes are regularly positioned on the VLF/LF element to eliminate resonances caused by mutual capacitance between the elements. Reactive loads are positioned in said HF/VHF element at regular intervals for optimizing performance of the antenna in the HF/VHF radio bands. In further embodiments the antenna is provided as a floating antenna with the elements helically arranged therein.
