摘要:
A semiconductor read only memory (ROM) serves to store digitized audio signals in a redundancy free form. The output of the memory is coupled to the input of a data expander in the playback circuit. The memory may also store an algorithm which serves to control operation of the data expander before the signals are further processed via a digital-to-analog converter and where the output of the digital/analog converter is then coupled to the input of an analog amplifier and then to a loud speaker arrangement. In this manner, digitized audio signals can be operated on by either error correcting modules or data expansion modules, both of which modules may include microprocessors where the algorithms for control of the microprocessors are also stored within the read only memory. In this manner, all mechanical movements between the storage medium and the pick up devices, which are typical of the prior art, is eliminated as the main storage medium consists of a read only memory or a plurality of such devices.

In a musical tone synthesizer in which an amplitude-modulated carrier wave delivered from an amplitude modulator is used to form a musical tone signal, the amplitude-modulated carrier wave is fed back to the input side of the amplitude modulator as a modulation signal, a portion thereof, a portion of a carrier wave or a composite signal of the modulation signal and the carrier wave. The amount of feedback may be controlled by multiplying the amplitude-modulated carrier wave with a predetermined modulation index. Furthermore, the modulation index may be charged with time so that the control of spectrum construction of the musical tone signal is readily performed. According to a modified embodiment, a plurality of amplitude-modulators are provided which are connected in a ring form feedback loop in which the modulated outputs of preceding amplitude modulators are supplied respectively to succeeding amplitude modulators.

A musical tone producing device of a waveform readout type has a reference waveform memory and a difference waveform memory. The reference waveform memory stores a reference waveform which is similar commonly to each of divided waveforms belonging to a plurality of blocks into which a musical tone waveform of a musical tone to be produced is divided. The difference waveform memory stores difference waveforms, each of which is a difference between the reference waveform and each of divided waveforms. The reproduction of the musical tone waveform is accomplished by reading out the reference waveform and the difference waveforms successively and by successively adding the read out reference waveform and the difference waveforms. This musical tone waveform synthesis according to utilization of difference waveforms contributes to the reduction of memory size.

A tone source apparatus for an electronic musical instrument includes a sequentially addressable memory storing a plurality of waveform segment defining instructions, each instruction including a component representative of the amplitude variation, the time duration and the direction of change of the associated waveform segment. Output means comprising an adder-subtractor circuit and a latch is operated for accumulatively processing the stored amplitude variation representative components for producing a stepped output signal whose direction of slope is determined by the stored direction component. Control means interposed between the memory and the output means is selectively operable for modifying the stored amplitude variation components coupled to the output means for imparting a sinusoidal inflection to the stepped output signal.

A musical-tone signal forming apparatus is provided for an electronic musical instrument. The apparatus comprises a musical-tone wave form setting circuit in which at least one cycle of a musical-tone wave form is repeatedly subjected to sampling at n points and the amplitude at each sampling point is compared with the amplitude at the preceeding sampling point. An increase, equal or decrease signal is generated in the form of a digital signal to indicate the relationship determined. An envelope setting circuit is provided in which an envelope of a desired musical-tone is subjected to sampling at m point and the analog amount at each sampling point is generated sequentially as a digital signal corresponding thereto. A pulse generating circuit whereby a pulse signal having a number corresponding to the digital signal value produced by the envelope setting circuit is repeatedly generated is employed. Also employed is a distribution circuit including addition and subtraction output terminals in which the output signals of the pulse generating circuit are distributed either to the addition output terminal or the subtraction output terminal according to the digital signals produced by the musical-tone wave form setting circuit. There is also used an up-down counter in which output signals of the addition output signal and the subtraction output terminal are respectively added or subtracted. A D-A converter is provided in which digital signals generated by the up-down counter are converted into analog signals.

An apparatus for forming a musical-tone waveform for an electronic musical instrument characterized in that at least one cycle of a musical-tone waveform, which it is desired be produced, is divided in amplitude by dividing lines at equal intervals and sampling points on a time axis are determined from respective crossing points between the waveform and the dividing lines and the distance between the initial and the final sampling points is represented by an appropriate number of pulses so that each sampling point may be represented by a pulse number. There is further provided a memory circuit wherein each sampling point, that is, the pulse number thereof is set up in the form of a digital signal. Additionally, there is a set up in the form of a digital signal a tendency such as increase, decrease or equal at each sampling point with reference to the preceding sampling point. An envelope setting device is used wherein the envelope of a muscial-tone waveform, which it is desired be produced, is subjected to sampling and the analog amount of each sampling point is set up in the form of digital signal. An accumulatively adding device is employed whereby the output digital signal of the envelope setting device is accumulatively added to or subtracted from the output digital signal of the memory circuit. The accumulatively adding device is connected at its output terminal to a D-A converter for converting its output signal into an analog signal.

The present invention provides a technique for shifting pitch to target pitch without detecting the original pitch directly, and for extracting the pitch of the audio waveform exactly. A phase compensator extracts 2 or more frequency channels each having frequency components of a harmonic overtone whose frequency is 1 or more times as higher than frequency of a fundamental tone of the original sound, from the frequency channels from which the frequency components are extracted by fast Fourier transform. The phase compensator calculates a scaling value to be used for converting the fundamental tone to another target fundamental tone, and performs phase compensation in accordance with the scaling value. A pitch shifter performs pitch scaling in accordance with the scaling value onto the audio data resultant from inverse fast Fourier transform onto the phase compensated frequency components. Thus, audio data representing the target fundamental tone are generated.

Filtering is performed on original waveform to remove components of a predetermined frequency band from the waveform, and dividing positions of the original waveform data are determined on the basis of envelope levels of the filtered waveform. The dividing positions may be determined on the basis of differentiation of an envelope of the filtered waveform. Rise positions in the original waveform data are detected, and one rise position may be selected from among one or more rise positions detected within a predetermined range of the original waveform and extracted as a dividing position of the original waveform. Presumed beat positions in the original waveform may be detected, and rise positions of the original waveform may be detected within predetermined ranges corresponding to the presumed beat positions. In parallel with reproduction of automatic performance, waveform data are stored in memory along with synchronization control data indicative of relationship in processing timing between the automatic performance and the waveform data.

During a succession of working cycles, a sound synthesizer system for obtaining at an output a series of electrical samples produces first level samples from zero level samples which can come from diverse sources. The samples are produced allowing for parameters such as the frequency, amplitude, phase or a filter coefficient. All of the data used in establishing samples is processed in cells materialized by locations of a plurality of memories. The content of the cells can evolve from one working cycle to the other and data calculation means are used on a timesharing basis for all the cells. The first level samples can be selectively combined to form second level samples before they are transferred to an output.
