    摘要: A refrigeration system for an outdoor ice skating rink includes a first heat exchanger that has a first conduit therein and is located outdoors. The first conduit has a first inlet and a first outlet and is configured to discharge heat to the outdoor ambient air. The refrigeration system includes a second heat exchanger that has a second conduit therein, and is in thermal communication with water in the ice skating rink. The second conduit has a second inlet and a second outlet and is configured to absorb heat from the water. The second outlet is in fluid communication with the first inlet via a warm-side conduit. The first outlet is in fluid communication with the second inlet via a cold-side conduit. One or more conveying devices are located in a closed loop that includes the first and second conduits, the warm-side conduit, and the cold-side conduit.

    摘要: A CO2 cooling system includes a compression stage in which CO2 refrigerant is compressed; a cooling stage in which the CO2 refrigerant releases heat; a CO2 liquid receiver in which the CO2 refrigerant is accumulated in liquid and gaseous states; an evaporation stage in which the CO2 refrigerant, having released heat in the cooling stage, absorbs heat. The evaporation stage has first and second evaporation sectors; a first metering device for feeding CO2 refrigerant into the first evaporation sector at a first pressure; and a second metering device for feeding CO2 refrigerant into the second evaporation sector at a second pressure. The first metering device and the second metering device are operated independently from one another. A plurality of CO2 transfer lines connects the compression stage, the cooling stage, the CO2 liquid receiver and the evaporation stage. The CO2 refrigerant is circulable in a closed-loop circuit.

    摘要: An ice maker for creating a layer of ice on a cooled surface, is disclosed. The ice maker has a source of de-gassed water, which may be de-gassed by being heated. A pump to pressurize the de-gassed water is provided and the water is passed to a sprayer hydraulically connected to the pump. The sprayer has nozzles sized and shaped to convert the pressurized water into a fine de-gassing droplet spray directed at the cooled surface. The droplets are sized to substantially freeze on contact with the cooled surface. In one embodiment a microprocessor is provided to change the volume sprayed according to the speed of the ice maker to ensure an even coat of ice is layed down.

    摘要: The invention is an insulation system that enables the ice sheet of a skating rink to be economically established and maintained outdoors even at relatively high ambient temperatures. A part of the insulation system is a removable cover member that can be raised and lowered. The cover is raised to allow access to the ice and can serve much as a patio cover in this position. In the lowered position the cover forms a surface similar to a deck attached to a domestic dwelling and enables the area occupied by the ice rink to be used for other purposes when it is not being used for ice-related activities. The embodiment described is directed to residential use outdoor. The invention can be adapted for commercial use and for indoor use.
