摘要:
In a terry cloth weaving machine in which a horizontal translation of both warp thread systems of the upper shed and of the lower shed, together with the already woven fabric, takes place for the formation of loops and in which an apparatus for tucking or laying-in tucked or laid-in selvedges is arranged at each side of the machine for the fabrication of tucked or laid-in selvedges in the woven fabric, the tucking or laying-in needles of which tuck or lay the free ends or pick ends of the inserted weft threads back into the weaving shed, an apparatus for fixing the position of the apex of the weaving shed at least over the width of the associated tucked or laid-in selvedge is arranged at each of the sides of the machine. Each apparatus for fixing the position of the weaving shed apex comprises two bars or straight-edges parallel to the edge or fell of the fabric and to the apex line of the weaving shed, one of which engages the corresponding tucked or laid-in selvedge from above and the other from below. The straight-edges mutually overlap by a prescribed amount and are arranged sequentially in relation to the length of the fabric in a prescribed spaced relationship in which the straight-edge nearer to the weaving reed approximately coincides with the apex line of the weaving shed as well as with the edge or fell of the fabric and with the point of beat-up of the weft at the fabric fell by the weaving reed. This measure assures that, in particular, the weaving shed in the region of the tucking or laying-in needles always has the same opening, so that the weft thread ends tucked or laid back into the shed can be fixed better and flawless tucked or laid-in selvedges thereby obtained.

The terry weaving machine is provided with a deflecting mechanism for guiding the edge warp yarns therethrough to retain the tucked-in end of a weft yarn in tong-like fashion. The deflecting mechanism may be in the form of a plate with a single slot or may be defined by a pair of adjustable jaws so that the slot can be sized depending upon the size and type of yarns being woven.

A weft-beating mechanism with variable-stroke reed for use in a loom for weaving toweling fabric in which, between the sley and the drive, there is provided a transmission operable by a control element to vary the stroke of the sley. The transmission comprises a sleeve having a multiplicity of axial grooves juxtaposed with axial grooves on the control element, the confronting grooves receiving balls for coupling the control element with the sleeve. The control element is provided additionally with helical grooves which confront helical grooves on the sley, the confronting grooves receiving balls for coupling the sley to the control element. When axial displacement of the control element is prevented, therefore, the sley undergoes full stroke displacement whereas, when the control element permits axial displacement, a less than full stroke is applied.

The pile warp beam is placed below the ground warp beam and a tensioning beam is positioned to guide the pile warps into the weaving plane so that access can be made to the machine by moving the ground warps aside without pulling out the beat-up pile loops. A deflecting means also cooperates with the tensioning beam to guide the pile warps about 180* around the tensioning beam.

The pile warp threads are passed through a storage means including a movable deflecting beam and two fixed bars which serve to form a thread reserve between two full beat-ups of the loom. A clamping beam cooperates with the bar of the storage means closest to the shed to clamp the threads during the time intervals between two successive beat-ups or between successive full and partial beat-ups. The opening of the clamping beam occurs simultaneously with the release of the thread reserve from the storage means to allow delivery of the pile warp threads without tension to the shed. This obviates any backward pull-out of the formed loop in the cloth.

A ground fabric made of cotton and provided with loops of bamboo fiber is used to form a looped fabric. The ground fabric has a ground weave that is obtained by a technique with three weft sequences or by a technique with four weft sequences. The looped fabric has a weight between 200 and 1700 gram/m2. The number of warp threads per cm fabric is between 21 and 34, and the number of weft threads per cm fabric is between 10 and 28, and the number of loops per cm fabric is between 3 and 9. The looped fabric may be used as a terry.

A device and weaving machine using the device for cutting discarded pile loop weft yarns in a fabric that is composed of a backing fabric consisting of weft yarns and warp yarns and that contains pile warp yarns by which, in one or several zones, pile loops are formed over discarded pile loop weft yarns, device being provided with a cutting blade to cut the discarded pile loop weft yarns, the device comprising a guiding needle that extends between two rows of pile positioned side by side in the direction of the warp, and the device being provided with two or several guiding yarns in the direction of the warp that push this side by side positioned pile away from the guiding needle and the cutting blade in the direction of the weft and that, at the same time, pull the discarded pile loop weft yarns away from the backing fabric in order to present them over the guiding needle to the cutting blade so that they can be severed.
摘要:
A system for maintaining a constant terry height in forming a terry cloth despite loom stoppage, e.g., to correct yarn breakage. The system includes a proximity sensor which is positioned at a predetermined distance from a floating roller, and on the same side of the floating roller as a loading spring. The proximity sensor causes stoppage of an electric motor of the feed beam for the terry warp yarns which were previously driven in a forward direction by the electric control center. Upon sensing movement of the floating roller by a predetermined distance, the electrical control sensor causes motion inversion of the electric motor to reverse the movement of the feed beam for the terry warp yarns.
