Abstract:
The present invention relates to antifungal biocontrol agents which enhance plant growth and reduce plant diseases by suppressing fungal pathogens, and the manufacturing and application methods thereof. The antifungal biocontrol agents of the present invention consist of one of the newly isolated strains of Streptomyces sp. WYE 20 (KCTC 0341BP) and WYE 324 (KCTC 0342BP) and a delivery medium which canies and stabilizes the cells. In particular, WYE 20 and WYE 324 of the present invention exhibit strong antifungal activity against Rhizoctonia solani and Phytophthora capsici and can be used in various ways to reduce fungal diseases in plants such as cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.), pepper (Capsicum annuum L.), and golf course turfgrasses.
Abstract:
The invention relates to isolates of Streptomyces orientalis Y31014 and Streptomyces melanogenes Y31042-1 can be effectively control whiteflies. The invention also concerns a novel biopesticide and its use to control pests.
Abstract:
Compositions and methods employing the compositions for attracting arthropods. The compositions comprise at least one compound of formula I and at least one compound from group II.
Abstract:
The invention relates to methods for increasing and/or prolonging in vivo or in vitro activity of plant growth regulators (PGRs), comprising of locally increasing the concentration of active plant growth regulators in a plant and/or plant part(s) and/or increasing the sensitivity of the plant and/or plant part(s) to the activity of the plant growth regulators. The local increase can for instance take place by administering the PGRs in capsules. The increase in the sensitivity can be brought about by administering elicitors or means which result in the formation of elicitors. By adding both elicitors and (modified, e.g. slow-release) PGRs the induced response can be timed.
Abstract:
A formulation for treating and preventing parasite infestations in horses, dogs, cats, and other animals is provided. This formulation includes a mixture of an edible non-aqueous liquid, a thickening agent, an agent effective against nematodes and obligate parasitic flies and a cestocidal agent, wherein the cestocidal agent is pyrantel, morantel, any salt thereof, or any combination thereof. Preferably, the agent effective against nematodes and obligate parasitic flies is an avermectin, a milbemycin or any combination thereof. Another aspect of the present invention is a method of making this parasiticidal formulation. A further aspect of the present invention is a method for administering the parasiticidal formulation of the present invention to an animal in the form of a paste.

Abstract:
Insect control through the use of an insect growth regulators is achieved by volatilization of the active compound from a point source in a spatial region such as a room, to diffuse through the air in the region toward objects in the region such as a carpet or a piece of furniture. The ability of the insect growth regulator to retain its activity when applied in this manner, even after periods of time in excess of one month following volatilization, is surprising in view of pre-existing methods of application that involved application of the insect growth regulator directly to the surface or object of interest in liquid form.
Abstract:
Antimicrobial agents comprise 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidine derivatives. When added to resins, these antimicrobial agents provide antimicrobial resin compositions, which in turn provide antimicrobial articles. These antimicrobial agents provide resins, synthetic fibers or the like with not only outstanding antimicrobial activity but also excellent heat resistance, weatherability and deterioration resistance without impairing the transparency and safety of these materials.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a fast drying biocidal composition having enhanced penetration for the treatment and preservation of wood, leather and similar natural products which comprises: A. between about 10 and about 50 wt. % of a concentrate comprising a petroleum distillate boiling above 40° C. and containing (a) between about 0.5 and about 7 wt. % of an active nitrogen- or sulfur-containing biocide and (b) between about 20 and about 55 wt. % of a solvent for said active biocide selected from the group consisting of (i) butyrolactone containing 0 to 85 wt. % N-methyl pyrrolidone and/or 0 to 85 wt. % of a C2 to C4 aliphatic alcohol and (ii) N-methyl pyrrolidone containing 0 to 85 wt. % of a C2 to C4 alcohol and B. from about 90 to about 50 wt. % of a C2to C4 aliphatic alcohol containing 0 to 85 wt. % of mineral spirit as a diluent to provide a sprayable composition and to the process for treating a wood or leather substrate with said biocidal composition.
Abstract:
Compositions and lures are described which provide synthetic chemical attractants which function as highly effective attractants for male and female moths, primarily moths of the family Noctuidae. In one aspect, the attractants provide an effective attractant amount of vapor of 3-methyl-1-butanol, 3-methyl-1-pentanol or mixtures thereof. In another aspect, the attractants provide vapor blends of acetic acid and one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of 3-methyl-1-butanol, 3-methyl-2-butanol, and 3-methyl-1-pentanol. By attracting male and female moths to traps or baits, the chemical attractants provide a means for detecting, surveying, monitoring, and controlling the moths.
