Abstract:
A carriage locking system for a device comprising a housing having a power cord receptacle. The system includes a carriage moveable in the housing. A power cord for the insertion into the power cord receptacle is also included. A carriage latch is moveable between a latched position to prevent movement of the carriage and an unlatched position allowing for movement of the carriage. The system further comprises a sensor operative to detect the presence of the power cord in the receptacle and operatively associated with the carriage latch such that the carriage latch moves to the unlatched position when the power cord is inserted in said power cord receptacle and the carriage latch moves to the latched position when the power cord is removed from the power cord receptacle.
Abstract:
An optical assembly lock/unlock apparatus includes an interlock mechanism configured to selectively lock an optical assembly in a fixed position relative to a scan engine.
Abstract:
In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, a method comprises placing an image capture device into a packaging, inserting at least a portion of a locking insert into a housing of the image capture device through the packaging, and engaging the portion of the locking insert with a carriage disposed in the housing to substantially immobilize the carriage.
Abstract:
A lamp protection device of an optical image scanner is disclosed. The lamp protection device comprises a chassis having a lamp holder and a lamp therein and buffer means for absorbing shock on lamp. The chassis moves under a transparent sheet of the optical image scanner and scan a document places on the transparent sheet. The buffer means for absorbing shock on lamp contact and provides the lamp with damping when said chassis end scanning and is locked.
Abstract:
A system and method for securing a moveable scanner device within a scanning system comprises a housing having a transparent platen provided thereon. The scanner device is operatively associated with the housing and is moveable along a displacement path. A drive system comprising a drive belt connected to the scanner device and a tensioning system operatively associated with the drive belt moves the scanner device along the displacement path. A control system operatively associated with the drive system actuates the drive system to move the scanner device to a stowed position along the displacement path, the location of the stowed position being such that a force exerted on the scanner device and directed along the displacement path is not transmitted to the drive belt tensioning system.
Abstract:
A buckling device of a scanning head is installed at an initial position of an optic module of the scanner. A slot is formed on the casing of a scanner for being positioned and inserted by a swingable piece. Two lateral surfaces of the swingable piece are pivotally installed to a pair of shaft grooves on the casing by respective projecting shafts. The swingable piece has an upper stopper for being inserted into an engaging hole of the optic module. The swingable piece is installed with a lower stopper and a sliding groove is installed on the casing. A gate is installed in the sliding groove. A hooking piece protrudes from one end of the sliding groove for hooking one end of the spring at one side of the gate; another end of the spring is connected to a hook portion at an end surface of the sliding rod passing through another end of the gate. A transverse piece and a straight piece are installed on the sliding rod. The straight piece is buckled to a resisting surface at a bottom of the optic module. As the optic module returns to the initial position, the straight piece drives the sliding rod to move towards another side without hindering the lower stopper by the transverse piece so that the lower stopper forms a buckling effect.
Abstract:
This invention provides a looped item or device attached to a document cover of a xerographic copier so that a wheelchair occupant can pull the document cover down over the platen glass. Better copies are obtained when the cover is down and the automatic document feeder is not accessible until the document cover is down over the platen glass. This invention provides a simple but effective way for a wheelchair occupant to easily use the automatic document feeder even when a previous user of the copier leaves the document cover up away from the platen glass. The loop provided in the looped item (lanyard or handle) is important to this invention.
Abstract:
A reader includes a housing with a platen on which a document is placed, a light source unit which moves along the platen and irradiates light toward the document, a mirror unit which works with the light source unit to define an optical path of the reflected light from the document in the housing, and a rotatable lock member mounted on one of the light source and mirror units. The housing includes an operation member, which is slid to fix the light source and mirror units, and a slide surface, which holds the sliding operation member. The lock member is rotated between an engaged position, where the lock member is engaged with another of the light source and mirror units, and a disengaged position, where the lock member is disengaged from the other of the light source and mirror units in response to slide operation of the operation member.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes: a moving body on which a catch receiving portion is formed and which is movable in a predetermined direction; a fixing body on which a catching portion is formed to catch the catch receiving portion, and which is movable in a direction substantially orthogonal to the predetermined direction; a first position retaining portion for engaging a projected portion, formed on either one of a housing and the fixing body, with a first recessed portion formed on the other so that the fixing body can be retained in a position in which the catching portion catches the catch receiving portion; and a second position retaining portion for engaging the projected portion with a second recessed portion, formed on either the housing or the fixing body on which the first recessed portion is formed.
