    摘要: In an exemplary embodiment, a phased array solid-state architecture has dual-polarized feeds and is manufactured, for example, on highly flexible silicon germanium (SiGe). The implementation of dual-polarized feeds facilitates the operation of phased arrays where the polarization can be statically or dynamically controlled on a subarray or element basis. In an exemplary embodiment, the sub-component control is configured to optimize a performance characteristic associated with polarization, such as phase or amplitude adjustment. An active phased array architecture may replace traditional distributed and GaAs implementations for the necessary functions required to operate electronically steerable phased array antennas. The architecture combines active versions of vector generators, power splitters, power combiners, and RF hybrids in a novel fashion to realize a fully or substantially monolithic solution for a wide range of antenna applications that can be realized with radiating elements having single-polarized or dual-polarized feeds.

    摘要: An apparatus performs dual circular polarization in a flat plate antenna simultaneously, and does not require more than two meander line polarization layers. A first linear polarization layer and a second linear polarization layer including a polarization power divider (2, 4) and a radiation panel (3, 5) positioned on the polarization power divider (2, 4), are provided to respectively perform first and second senses of linear polarization. Additionally, a first meander line polarizer layer (6) is positioned on the second linear polarization layer and a second meander line polarizer layer (7) is positioned on the first meander line polarizer layer. The first and second meander line polarizer layers (6, 7) convert linear polarization signals into a circular polarization signals.

    摘要: An assembly of antenna elements is mounted in a unitary structure for transport on a satellite encircling the earth. Each element comprises a horn shaped radiator with opposed arcuate sidewalls, a rectangular waveguide feed, and a transition interconnecting the feed to a throat of the horn. The assembly services a plurality of portions of a communication band within the electromagnetic spectrum. The throats of respective horns are dimensioned for specific frequencies of the respective portions of the communication bands. The antenna elements may provide telemetry and control functions for the satellite. A side-by-side arrangement of the horns permits use of a common meanderline polarizer for conversion of a linearly polarized wave to a circularly polarized wave for each antenna element.
