    摘要: An open top electrode tank including two electrode chambers respectively containing an electrolyte and an electrode, and an open top cooling tank containing cooling fluid are superposed one upon the other. A separating zone is attached to the bottom of the cooling tank, and bent portions of a pair of bridging filter papers are attached to predetermined positions of a separating zone. Permanent magnets are disposed on both sides of each filter paper and on the bottom of the cooling tank for attracting each other.

    摘要: Disclosed herein is a gel slab electrophoresis device having novel temperature and heat control capability. The electrophoresis device includes a sample unit having a pair of transversely-spaced first and second plates containing a gel cast, these plates having open top and bottom slots spaced therebetween. An integral part of the apparatus is a heat sink which is in thermal communication with the sample unit, the heat sink constituting a pneumatic circuit for both heat distribution and removal to and from the gel cast. There is also provided upper and lower solution chambers, both filled with conductive solutions, and both in fluid communication with the respective top and bottom portions of the gel. The apparatus also includes an arrangement for applying an electrical potential between the upper and lower solution chambers and, thereby, across the entire vertical length of the gel. Additionally provided is a refrigeration sub-system, the output of which is heat exchanged into the pneumatic circuit.

    摘要: A precast gel/membrane combination unit for use in gel electrophoresis and membrane transfer for protein analysis, and method of use. Transparent electrically conductive plastic/polymer plate(s) house an electrophoresis gel and immunoblotting membrane. The gel and membrane are positioned between two plates of conductive plastics/polymers or plates having an electrically conductive layer or film. During the electrophoresis step, electrical current moves proteins through the gel allowing for protein separation. Then, without removing or reorienting the gel or apparatus, the electrical contacts are switched to allow the flow of electricity to run perpendicularly through the gel via the conductive plastics/polymers, which will allow the proteins to transfer to the membrane housed in the same precast gel/membrane combination unit. The apparatus allows the user to visually see and perform the steps of protein separation and protein transfer to a transfer membrane without transferring the gel or apparatus after the electrophoresis separation phase.

The analysis apparatus includes a cooling unit (an electron cooling element and a driving circuit) that cools the microchip, a voltage application unit (electrodes and a power supply circuit) that applies voltage to a buffer solution filled in the channel of the microchip, an optical analysis unit (a light source, a light receiving element, and an analysis unit) that conducts, through the microchip, optical analysis of a sample introduced in the channel, and a control unit that controls the cooling unit, the voltage application unit, and the optical analysis unit. The control unit causes the cooling unit to start cooling the microchip, and after the microchip has been cooled, causes the voltage application unit and the optical analysis unit to operate.

In addition, methods for determining a ramp rate effective for reducing peak broadening are disclosed.
